THOMPSON, CT – 1991 Daytona 500 Champion, Ernie Irvan, is planning several appearances in Connecticut’s Quiet Corner, in conjunction with the Inaugural Busch North Throwback at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Irvan’s son, Jared, announced last week that he would be driving for Martin-McClure Racing, in the No. 4 Kodak car, identical to what his father drove in a Busch North/South combination event at Waltkins Glen International. Together, the father-son duo will be making several appearances in the week leading up to the race.

Beginning on Thursday, July 6, at 8am, Ernie and Jared will be appearing on WINY Radio with Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s Chief Operating Officer& General Manager, Josh Vanada. Later on that day, the Irvans will be visiting KING Cadillac-GMC in Putnam, CT, to meet and greet fans from 4p-6p.

On Friday, July 7, Ernie will be signing autographs in Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s garage, as part of the Fan Fest scheduled from 5-7p. Both Ernie and Jared will join all the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East drivers, as well as former Busch North Series Champions, in the driver autograph session. Scheduled for 7:15pm behind the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park grandstands, fans will have an opportunity to meet the former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver, as well as the future stars of NASCAR’s top series.

“It’s a great honor for us to have Ernie Irvan coming to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. We are glad to have the McClure family reuniting with the Irvan family with this special paint scheme, remembering the history that the two have together. It’s been a while since we have had a former Cup driver at our facility, and this is a great opportunity for fans to meet one. We are grateful to Ernie for coming, and for Eric McClure for working so hard to make this happen,” Josh Vanada explained.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returns to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Friday, July 7, with a Fan Fest, running from 5p-7p. The Fan Fest is open to the public at no charge. The main event will take place on Saturday, July 8. Pit gates open at 12p. Practice begins at 2:00p, and racing begins at 5p. For more information, visit thompsonspeedway.com.
