Brett Deyo confirmed to us this morning that he will conclude his 2017 Short Track Super Series North season at the Orange County Fair Speedway on October 19, 2017 as part of an expanded Eastern States Weekend. Since the SSTS inception in 2014 it’s North schedule has always ended at the Short Track Super Nationals held at the I-88 Speedway located near Afton, NY. The 2017 Short Track Super Nationals will get a boost as it is being combined with the American Racer Cup Weekend in October.
Just as the SSTS South kicks off and ends at the same track at Georgetown Speedway, which Deyo leases and operates, the North schedule will now start and end on “The Hard Clay” at Orange County. The Hard Clay open will still take place on Saturday April 8th.
Deyo expects the race to be 50-Laps in distance on American Racer tires and Sail Panels can be used.
The 2017 Short Track Super Series South season will lift off at the Georgetown Speedway on March 11th. 2016 Short Track Super Series Champions are Andy Bachetti in the North and Stewart Friesen in the South and Charlie Hendrickson was the Sportsman champion.
With plans starting to take place for 2017, Deyo still has one race left on the 2016 calendar with the rescheduled Gobbler at the Accord Speedway this coming Saturday followed up with the Short Track Super Series banquet taking place on December 16th at the Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel & Conference Center in Bethlehem, PA.
More to come with this as it becomes available.
