DIRTcar Summer Nationals Roars to Life Wednesday at Brownstown Speedway
Nearly $800,000 on the line as DIRTcar Late Models race 28 times over next 32 days
CONCORD, N.C. – June 9, 2015 – If you can survive racing 28 times over the next 32 days, traveling nearly 5,500 miles from event to event, you might be able to call yourself a DIRTcar Summer Nationals champion.
Defending champion Shannon Babb has won the crown four times since 2005. Now, a new generation of racers has stepped to the forefront to take their shots at the legendary “Hell Tour” in recent years. Defending DIRTcar national champion Bobby Pierce nearly won the title in 2013 as he looks to join his father, a two-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals champion, as the only father-son duo to ever top this grueling tour.
The action kicks off on Wednesday night at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway before shifting to Kankakee (Ill.) County Speedway on Thursday and then Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., by Friday and Saturday. It will eventually wind through nine states, concluding on July 11 at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio.
For many, the 28 races in 32 days can make or break their season as drivers are competing for a share of more than $750,000 in purse, point fund and contingency money.
