DEAN’S ELECTRICAL GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL
Bringing Awareness To Bowman’s Journey Is A Human Triumph
Story By: Rob Hazer/KOD
September 6, 2018 (Malta, NY) – Dean’s Electrical is owned by proprietor Dean Seelow, who has been a monetary partner at King Of Dirt Racing for the past four years, but what he does to celebrate the life of a young lady defying the odds living with Batten’s Disease is almost heroic.
Often times in dirt track racing there are stories that get overlooked in favor of the latest Social Media debate or viral video of a driver loosing their temper. Dean Seelow looks past the dramatic outset to the more inner human strength associated with the sport and is personally touched by the incredible strength of Kaitlin Bowman.
Kaitlin’s journey began, as any other young female would experience. She was a beautiful bouncing young lady with her whole life ahead of her, but in 2009 she was diagnosed with Late Infantile NCL or Batten’s Disease. It is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder that begins during childhood and can sadly take two years to detect.
Despite being subjected to possible seizures, visual impairment, behavioral challenges, and loss of motor skills Kaitlin didn’t let it affect her journey. You see, less than 500 children worldwide are diagnosed with Batten’s Disease and most are not expected to live longer than 8-12 years of age. Bowman is defying the odds, as she just celebrated her 13th birthday back in August.
“Every time Dean talks about Kaitlin and how she’s still pushing despite this devastating disease, it reminds me that no matter how much my body may hurt this little girl has the will, courage, and energy to move on despite the odds stacked against her. It’s inspiring and uplifting. I love inspiring and uplifting stories like hers,” said King Of Dirt Racing promoter Rob Hazer.
Albany Saratoga Speedway promoter Lyle DeVore will welcome Bowman and her family, as special guests Friday September 7th during the Northeast Crate Nationals program. The speedway has in the past and continues into the future doing amazing things for kids, which shows there is more to racing than cars on the track.
For Seelow his face lights up with joy each time he talks about celebrating another year of life with young lady Bowman and how each year adds to the story of her journey.
“It’s heartbreaking to see a child go through what Kaitlin has had to endure, but there’s moments when she breaks out laughing and it brings tears to your eyes,” said Seelow, owner of Dean’s Electrical Services.
“I’ve known Kaitlin for about eight years now and we just had her 10th annual benefit and her 13th birthday party. It touches my heart to see her defy the odds with a smile and incredible courage despite her ailments,” concluded Seelow.
On Friday September 7th during the annual Northeast Crate Nationals headline program at Albany Saratoga Speedway, Bowman and her family will be honored guests of the series and speedway to celebrate her journey to 13. She’ll enjoy a special victory lane ceremony with 2016 Sportsman Modified King Of Dirt and current series point leader Connor Cleveland before the racing action begins.
Dean’s Electrical Service is more than just a monetary partner in supporting King Of Dirt Racing and the Northeast Crate Nationals at Albany Saratoga Speedway; Dean Seelow is a humanitarian serving the sport above and beyond the turning of wrenches.
