CICCONI AND HORTON ARE PLANNING TO BE AT THE MODIFIED 811 DIG SAFE SERIES OPENER AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 24
Sicklerville, NJ (April 8, 2015) – A powerful two-car team is planning to be at the opening event of the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series at Bridgeport Speedway on Friday, April 24. Lou Cicconi has confirmed that he has been medically cleared to race and is planning to participate in the first of five Friday night contests on the inner dirt oval. Cicconi, who suffered a non-displaced fracture of the first lumbar vertebra this past December at the Battle of Trenton race for TQ Midgets, was ecstatic to hear the news of a quick and successful recovery. “I did get medically cleared and I will begin to prepare my car for the opener,” stated Cicconi. With two wins in previous races on the quarter mile at Bridgeport Speedway, the driver from Aston, PA will be a force in the five race series. In addition, Cicconi revealed that Jimmy Horton is planning to compete in a second car. “After speaking with Jimmy about the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series, the plan is for him to be at the opener as well,” said Cicconi. Horton, who has 128 career wins on the 5/8 mile track at Bridgeport Speedway, will be seeking his first victory on the quarter mile oval.DSC_0235
After the April 24 contest, the remaining events in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series will occur on May 15, June 12, July 10 and July 31. A point fund has been developed for the five race series and it will be distributed to the top five finishers in the standings. The champion of the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series will be awarded a minimum of $1,000.  The driver that finishes in second will take home at least $500 while a minimum of $250 will go to the third place finisher in the point standings.  In addition to the point fund, perfect attendance bonuses will be given to all drivers that compete in all five contests but finish out of the top five in points. Distribution of all point fund and bonus monies in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series will be completed by Wiz Motorsports Communications at the 2015 Bridgeport Speedway banquet.
After the series, the quarter mile track at Bridgeport Speedway will host the $10,000 to win Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship on Saturday, September 26.
