CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS (23 entries)

Front row starter Dain Naida led the first three laps of the 360 Sprint Car feature, but Mitch Brown quickly moved up to take the lead away, while Glenn Styres moved up to second on lap 5. Brown and Styres dueled for the lead while running their customary grooves – Brown hugging the inside wall in the corners, Styres on the high side. The two raced through traffic until Styres’ engine went sour on lap 18. Brown went on to record his 6th career 360 Sprint Car feature win at Ohsweken, followed by Naida, 9th starter Todd Hoddick, 8th starter Jim Huppunen, and 10th starter Keith Dempster.

Heat races for the 23 car field were claimed by Naida, Styres, and Huppunen, while Chris Jones won the B-Feature, and Glenn Styres won the Nathan Ackland State Farm Insurance “Top Gun” Award for amassing the most passing points during heat race action. Brown holds a 9 point lead over Dempster in the championship standings after two events.

AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS (39 entries)

Chris Dickie started third and quickly took the lead in the Thunder Stock feature, while Blake Bomberry, Jr. gave chase. 10th starter Dave Bailey picked his way through the field and was racing for the third spot after just 4 laps. Bailey took the second position away from Bomberry on lap 9, and began to stalk Dickie for the lead. The two leaders ran nose-to-tail and pulled away from the rest of the field over the last 10 laps, and Bailey had just taken the lead coming to the white flag when a caution flag came out for a spin by Dave Bitner, Jr. Dickie kept the lead for the restart, with the lineup reverting to the last completed lap, but Bailey persevered and drove around Dickie to take the win by just 0.194 seconds. Dickie settled for the runner-up spot, followed by Alex Schuts, Dave Silverthorn, Jr., and Dereck Lemyre.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS (43 entries)

Brian Watson made a beeline to the front of the Mini Stock field, taking the lead on the second lap and opening a gap on the rest of the field. 10th starter Jon Janssens and 12th starter Kathi Dickie were up to 2nd and 3rd by the time the feature race reached the halfway signal. Both drivers caught Watson, with Janssens taking the lead on lap 12, and Dickie taking the 2nd spot on lap 13. Dickie’s last lap effort to get the win resulted in contact with Janssens, and the subsequent melee also collected Watson and brought out a yellow flag. Gillian Hils was the beneficiary of the incident, and inherited the lead for the one lap dash to the finish. Hils took her first Ohsweken Mini Stock feature win, followed by 21st starter Jason Dixon, 18th starter Rob Hoskins, 13th starter Lucas Lubin, and Jake Bazuin.

Brandon Janssens, Chris Ryckman, Jon Janssens, and Laura Hughes won the heat races for the 43 car field, while Jason Dixon and Robin Elliott won the B-Features. Hils holds a slim one point advantage over Jake Bazuin in the championship standings after two events.
