Brown Gets Points Boost at Bowman Gray
Brown Gets Points Boost at Bowman Gray
(Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC) Tim Brown of Tobaccoville made history over the weekend,
breaking the record for most all-time Modified wins at the Madhouse. And now, his points total is seeing
the benefit.
Brown started off the season with a new chassis and high hopes. However, his first few weeks were
what the nine-time champ would consider mediocre. Brown acknowledged that the first part of his season
would be a struggle as he figured out the adjustments that needed to be made to dial in his new ride.
Apparently, Brown and his crew have hit on something that works for them. He won on May 23, won
in Friday’s Modified race, and won yet again in Saturday’s Modified race.
He leaps up from fifth up to second in the points standings for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified
Series. Dean Ward of Winston-Salem missed the racing on Friday, dropping him from second down to eighth.
Chris Fleming of Mount Airy moves up to third in the points after some strong finishes over the
weekend. Burt Myers maintains the points lead, strengthening the margin that separates him from the rest
of the field after Dean Ward and Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg drop in the rankings.
In the Farm Bureau Insurance Sportsman Series, Taylor Branch of Lewisville holds on to the points
lead. Jeff Garrison loses a little ground but manages to maintain his second place ranking. Michael
Clifton of Yadkinville makes up some ground and moves closer to passing by Garrison.
Derrick Rice of Kernersville moves up to tie Brian Wall of Winston-Salem for the points lead in
the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series. Jeremy Warren’s win boosts him from fifth to third, just two
points out of the lead.
A.J. Sanders of Mocksville collided as he fought for the lead in the McDowell Heating & Air
Stadium Stock Series, dropping him out of a dominant points lead. Brandon Brendle of Winston-Salem takes
over the spot in Sanders’s absence, and Shane Southard’s win on Saturday moves him up to tie Sanders for
second in the points.
Be sure to be at the Madhouse this Saturday night – it’s the Stadium Stock 50, the longest and
most prestigious race of the season for the Stadium Stock Division. Plus there will be racing for the
Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stock Divisions – and the night will end with the always wild 109 U-
Pull-It Chain Race.
Gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket
