BOB SARKISIAN WINS THE THIRD RACE OF THE MODIFIED 811 DIG SAFE SERIES AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
Sicklerville, NJ (June 13, 2015) – Competing on the quarter mile track for the very first time, Bob Sarkisian won the third race of the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series at Bridgeport Speedway. The scheduled 25-lap contest was shortened to eighteen circuits due to a medical emergency for a crew member in the grandstands.
After two early incidents slowed down the racing, Lou Cicconi took the lead on the second lap with Sarkisian, Jimmy Horton, Brad Roberts and Richie Pratt in tow. On the fifth circuit, Roberts and Pratt each advanced one position closer to the front after Horton clipped an inside tire in turn three. On the next revolution, Pratt inched by Roberts for third place. With ten tours completed, Cicconi was still on top with Sarkisian staying within striking distance. After a caution period on lap 15, Sarkisian used the outside lane to win an energetic battle with Cicconi to grab the lead. Once on top, Sarkisian repelled the opposition during the remaining laps and restarts to take the checkered flag. For his initial voyage on the inner dirt oval, Sarkisian guessed correctly on his setup. “The car handled great tonight. I did not know what setup to put on the car but it seemed to work,” stated the victor. With marketing partners CPM Services and Chiaro Construction Services on hand for the event, employees from both firms joined Sarkisian in celebrating the victory. Horton finished in second place with Johnny Cornell claiming third. Ron Roberts and Pratt completed the top five. For finishing in fifth, Pratt received a free racing wheel from Vahlco Racing Wheels. Jesse Dill received the Hard Luck Award from S&D Bodyline. The heat races were won by Horton and Pratt.
The next race in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series is set for Friday, July 10. The final contest in the five-race series will take place on Friday, July 31.
