Blake Hahn Sweeps ASCS Gulf South Weekend
TULSA, Okla. (March 30, 2015) A list minute decision to head south paid off for Blake Hahn as the Oklahoma shoe captured $7,000 with the weekend sweep against the Southern Trailer Works ASCS Gulf South Region at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park and Battleground Speedway.
“It was a good weekend, but it didn’t start off that way,” explained Hahn. “We broke an axle on the trailer to start with, then drew the very back of our Heat Race both nights. We ended up third the first night, and fourth the second but made the redraw both times so that helped.”
Winning from third on Friday at Golden Triangle, Hahn was unchallenged at the Beaumont oval, “There was plenty of good cars down there. Beaumont is one of my favorite tracks so it’s great to get the win down there.”
Gridding the front row at Battleground on Saturday, Hahn was challenged late in the race by Travis Rilat, but kept the lead by the grace of a caution, “I was committed to the bottom, but when I saw Travis on the high side, I adjusted my line on the restart through turns three and four. I didn’t see anyone else the rest of the race. You know, my crew had that JR1 rolling. I can’t thank them enough for helping me.”
Blake returns to ASCS Regional competition this coming weekend with the ASCS Red River Region at the Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas and Black Hawk Casino Speedway in Meeker, Okla.
