BARONE MANAGES RESPECTABLE FINISH AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY DESPITE A BROKEN SHOCK AND STEERING MALFUNCTION
Sicklerville, NJ (April 16, 2015) – Mike Barone, the driver of the 267 Big Block Modified, managed to gain a respectable finish in the 25-lap feature despite a broken shock and steering malfunction.DSC_0231
Barone qualified for the main event on Sunday, April 12 by finishing second in the consolation contest.  After starting the feature from twentieth place, a steering malfunction occurred in the early portion of the race. “During the first caution period of the feature, somebody came across the front of my car and made contact with it.  I had difficulty turning the car left for the remainder of the race,” stated Barone. When the second yellow flag of the race appeared on the sixteenth circuit, Barone was sitting in sixteenth. From that point on, he seemed to pick up the pace. By the twentieth lap, Barone edged his way up to twelfth. “I made an adjustment with my brakes during the caution period on lap 16,” said the driver from Hillsborough, NJ. When the checkered flag waved, Barone was scored in fourteenth place. Upon exiting the car and reviewing his Bicknell Modified, the team discovered the right front shock was broken. “I believe that happened during the first caution period of the race,” revealed Barone.  For his next event, Barone will be competing in the Short Track Super Series race at Bridgeport Speedway on Sunday, April 19.
