Any Good Thanksgiving Meal Has Plenty Of Toppings: Accord Speedway ‘Gobbler’ Saturday November 28 Gaining Momentum As Special Awards & Bonuses Are Posted
ACCORD, NY – Any good Thanksgiving meal has plenty of extra toppings.
The ‘Gobbler’ 2015 Northeast dirt-track finale at Accord Speedway will have its share of “extras” for competitors taking part in the Saturday, November 28 post-Thanksgiving special.
Headlining the ‘Gobbler’ spectacular is a 50-lap main for big-block/small-block Modifieds offering a healthy $5,300 winner’s share and $300 just to take the green flag. Sportsman (Open vs. Crate 602) race for 25 laps and $1,200 to win. Completing the program will be Street Stocks, competing in the Ron Wright Memorial with a $500 winner’s share for 20 laps and Slingshots doing battle for $300 to win in a 20-lap feature.
Additional marketing partners have boosted this event with cash and contingency awards.
The Hard Charger Award in the Modified 50-lap event will be worth a hefty $300 cash thanks to Jim Thorne Jr. and Economy Movers of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The driver advancing the most positions from their scheduled starting position to the finish will take home the bonus money. Economy Movers is online at www.economymoving.com.
Behrent’s Performance Warehouse of Florida, N.Y., will award a pair of $100 gift cards to the drivers turning the fastest two laps in the 50-lap Modified main event as recorded by the speedway’s transponder system. Behrent’s Performance Warehouse is on the web at www.behrents.com.
The fifth-place finisher in the 50-lap Modified feature will take home a free non-beadlock wheel courtesy of Vahlco Wheels. The online home of Vahlco Wheels is www.vahlco.com.
The top-finishing Orange County (N.Y.) Fair Speedway regular in the Modified 50 will take home $50 cash from DMJ Photos and Boris Rudzinski. A similar $50 cash award will go to the leading Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway representative posted by a loyal fan of the historic fairgrounds track.
In the Street Stock division, Par 5 Landscaping has signed on to present a $75 Hard Charger Award in the Ron Wright Memorial. The award will go to the driver advancing the most positions from their scheduled starting position to the finish. Par 5 Landscaping is online at www.par5landscaping.com.
Jay’s Pool Service of Middletown, N.Y., has signed on to boost the Slingshot division with a $50 cash award to the highest-finishing Junior Slingshot competitor and an additional $50 for the last-place finisher in the main event.

Pit gates will open at 10 a.m., with grandstand gates unlocked at 11 a.m. A drivers’ meeting is planned for 12:30 p.m., with hot laps at 1 p.m. and racing at 2 p.m.
Adult admission is $22. Seniors (ages 65 and over) pay $20 and Kids 11 and under pay $5. Limited indoor seating is available for $35 by calling 845.626.1142 in advance of the event. Pit admission is $35, with no license required.
Registration is now open for the Modified, Sportsman and Slingshot divisions. Entry forms have been posted on the BD Motorsports Media website. There is no pre-entry fee for the Street Stock division.

The inaugural ‘Gobbler’ was contested on Nov. 30, 2013 with Anthony Perrego of Montgomery, N.Y., securing the Modified triumph over Stewart Friesen. Other winners included Rocky Warner (Sportsman) and Charlie Houghtaling (Street Stock).
The ’14 version was postponed by weather to April 14, 2015. Jackie Brown Jr., a local Hurley, N.Y., competitor, was the Modified winner. Other victors included Greg McCloskey (Sportsman), Kevin Skelly (Street Stock) and Demetrios Drellos (Slingshot).
Accord previously ran Thanksgiving weekend race very early in the Palmer promotional regime, back in 2002 with Robbie Green of Wallkill, N.Y., the Modified winner.
