All Stars and May Flowers Enduro up Next at the Park

Mercer, PA (April 29, 2015): Anticipation is building for the first appearance by the new UNOH All Stars Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series this Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park. Because weather interfered with all but one of the scheduled events at the track so far in 2015, the promising weather forecast has fans, competitors, and staff ready and raring to go. And, they even get to go again, with a Sunday afternoon program featuring the May Flowers 150 and Full Bloom 25.

The All Stars will bring their most potent and diverse roster of drivers to the Park to do battle with the tough local contingent of 410 Sprint Car racers competing under the banners of 4 Your Car Connection and World of Wheels. Joining the party will be the exciting Bonnell’s Rod Shop Outlaw Sprint Warriors, the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars operating under the Open Stock rules, and the Rock Concrete Supply Modified Lites. This will be a must see event.

Consistency has been a virtue for Dale Blaney, who once again finds himself atop the All Stars point standings. The popular driver from nearby Fowler, OH has yet to win at the Park, and he has not won a single All Stars program in 2015! Can Saturday be the night that the “Low Rider” graces victory lane? He will want to score the big win for his new car owners, Aaron Call and Janet Holbrook. Backing comes from Todd Quiring of Big Game Tree Stands and affiliated companies.

Close behind in the early stages of the All Stars championship run is series rookie Ryan Smith, of Kunkeltown, PA. This young racer shocked the All Stars world with an unprecedented win in his first ever appearance at Attica Raceway Park in early April. Yjird place man, Cody Darrah, is hot off a win in the Bob Weikert Memorial held at Port Royal Speedway last weekend. Second generation racer Sheldon Haudenschild sits fourth in the standings, just a couple of markers ahead of the “Pittsburgh Kid,” Danny Holtgraver. Holtgraver is a fan favorite at Mercer, dating back to his teenage years racing a Micro Sprint before graduating to the potent 410 Sprints.

Also solidly in the top ten in All Stars’ points are former champs Chad Kemenah and Tim Shaffer, the “Steel City Outlaw,” and another impressive rookie, Parker Price-Miller. That Indiana teen captured the flag at Wayne County Speedway just a couple of weeks ago in tough All Stars competition. Andrew Palker, who always gets around the trick Mercer oval in rapid style comes in ninth, and popular veteran Danny Smith will be in the house. But, these are just a few of the stars who will be on hand. It is likely that Kenny Jacobs will make a rare appearance, along with fellow Hall of Famer Jac Haudenschild. Add in Lee Jacobs and Caleb Helms, to name a few more, and you can easily see that this could be the best assemblage of racers at the Park in a long, long time.

And, let us not overlook the local talent. Adam Kekich showed us all that he can run with the best when he took the opener two weeks ago. He did battle with Brandon Spithaler, Eric “Turkey” Williams, Rod George, Jack Sodeman, Jr., Scott Priester, A.J. Flick, Brent and Brandon Matus, and former Outlaw Sprint Warrior champ Jimmy Morris, and many more.

Cody Bova claimed the win in the Outlaw Sprint Warriors. George Hobaugh, Jr. looks to improve upon his second place finish for Lockhart Motorsports. Former Modified Lite kingpins Darin Gallagher and George Englert joined Rob Felix in the top five on opening night.

The Open Stocks have yet to appear at the Park in 2015, and the liberalized rules package always seems to attract some invaders. Curtis J. Bish will have the Tarr Motorsports entry ready to take on all comers.

Mark Marcucci was in victory lane on opening night for the Modified Lites. Can he make it two in a row?

Gates will open at 4 p.m. Saturday, with practice at 6:30. All Stars qualifications will begin at 7 p.m., with heat race action immediately following. Come out early to enjoy the warm weather and to get your favorite seats. A huge crowd will be expected for this special event.

Adult admission for this program will be $25. Seniors (60+) will enjoy the show for $23, and students (9-15) for $9. Children (8 and under) will be admitted free of charge, as usual at Mercer Raceway Park. The Family Pass will be $52, and that will benefit two adults and up to four minors of any age. Pit Passes will be $35.

Sunday will be a fun day at Mercer Raceway Park. The 150 lap Enduro returns with a new name, the May Flowers 150. The numerous postponements of the Jack Frost 150 allowed many new drivers to get their cars ready to compete. The Mini Stocks will go for 25 laps, their longest race of the season, in the Full Bloom 25. Tyler Fulton lapped the field in January of 2014, but things will be much different when the racers take the green at 1 p.m. on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Gates will open at 10 on Sunday. Regular event ticket pricing will apply, which means that adults will attend for $13, seniors (60+) for $11, and students (9-15) for $5. Children (8 and under) come in for free. The Family Pass will be $28, and Pit Passes will be $30.

If you cannot make it to the track for either of these events, Saturday Night Live! racing action will resume on Saturday, May 9. May 16 will be another Saturday Night Live! program, with all members of the Twin State Auto Racing Fan Club being admitted free of charge.
