7th annual Slocum 50 Memorial Race this Saturday, April 18
WEST BURLINGTON, IA – The 7th annual Slocum 50 Memorial Race expects to be a another huge event at 34 Raceway this Saturday, April 18. The Cornbelt/ALMS/MARS Super Late Models put on a show for a packed house last year with 46 late models competing. Seventeen year old Bobby Pierce picked up the win in a who’s who of late model racing taking home the $10,555 check. 34 Raceway will be giving $1.00 from each adult grandstand admission ticket sold to the Brent Slocum Scholarship Fund & Foundation.
Expected entrants include Chad Simpson (2014 MLRA points champ), Chris Simpson, Mark Burgtorf (Former Slocum 50 winner), Terry Phillips, Ryan Gustin, Kevin Weaver, Dave Eckrich, Denny Eckrich (former Slocum 50 winner), Denny Woodworth, Tony Jackson, Jr. and many more! Hard Chargers will be paid for all classes and Hard Luck paid to the late model class. $500 Lange Farms / DA Moore Trucking Hard Charger & $250 Fenton Pawn Hard Luck award for late models, $250 Midland Performance/ 3G Spot Hard Charger for sprints & $250 Sharri Richard Fierce Fighter Hard Charger for stock cars.
Late Model Racer Brent Slocum was killed in 2005 in a freak pit accident at the track. Friends, family, racers and racefans continue to honor the former racer with this annual event that continues to grow year after year.
Pit Gates open at 3, Grandstand gates open at 5 , time trials start at 6:15 and racing will follow. Other competing classes include the 305 Sprints and IMCA Stock cars.
