BURLINGTON, IA – (May 2, 2015) – Six classes of cars were in action at 34 Raceway Saturday night May 2 with six new winners in victory lane. The 2015 season at 34 Raceway included three great nights of racing action with the Sprint Invaders & Modified Frostbuster, the Inaugural National Sprint League and the popular Slocum 50 late model spectacular. Saturday night was the first for 34 Raceway’s weekly racing action with the W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints, Ryner Transportation IMCA Modifieds, Casebine Credit Union Sport Mods, 34 Raceway 4 Cylinders and the Coors Lite Mod Lites in action. Picking up their first wins of the season were Cody Wehlre, Burlington (305 sprints), Chad Krogmeier, Burlington (IMCA Stock Cars), Bobby Anders, Quincy, Il. (IMCA Sport Mods), Bryan Shipley, Burlington (4 cylinders) and Jake Halcomb, Monmouth, IL (mod lites).  The final feature of the night, IMCA Modifieds, was stopped due to rain and will be completed at the beginning of the racing Saturday, May 9 starting with lap 5.

 

Coming  up this week, Saturday, May 9 is SCC Educate Yourself Nite. All SCC staff and SCC registered students with valid ID will be admitted free into the grandstands. Register to win at the SCC booth. Racing action will include 305 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock cars, IMRA Midgets and 4 Cylinders.

 

Bryan Shipley, Burlington, picked  up the win in the 34 Raceway 4 Cylinder feature topping the sixteen car field. Shipley led from the first lap holding off Cody Washburne of Mt. Pleasant in the final laps for the win. Stevie Shull, Ron Kibbe, and Michael Grossman rounded out the top five.

 

Fourteen 305 Sprints took the track next for the second feature race of the night with Cody Wehrle getting his first win this season. Wehrle took the lead from Jayson Ditsworth on lap 3 of the 20 lap feature after the two would trade positions throughout the first three laps. Wehrle would hold his lead while a battle for second went on behind him. Shane Quam, Justin Newberry and John Schulz battled it out for the second spot with Newberry following Wehrle across the finish line for a distant second. Schulz, Quam and Dave Getchell rounded out the top five.

 

Chad Krogemier put a new engine in his IMCA Stock Car Friday night and went to the track on Saturday night to pick up his first win in a highly competitive field. Krogmeier took the lead from his front row start in the fourteen car, twenty lap feature and was never seriously challenged. The battle for second was fierce Shane Watts, Tommy Bowling, Jake Wenig and Ray Raker putting on a show. With three laps to go, Watts took over the second spot for good followed by Raker and Bowling who had moved to the front from the rear of the field after being involved in a spin earlier in the race. Devon Timmerman rounded out the top five.

 

2014 34 Raceway track champion Bobby Anders, Quincy, Il., picked up where he left off winning the IMCA Sport Mod feature. Anders took the lead on the first lap. While being chased by Austen Becerra, Brett Timmerman, Sean Wyett, the Quincy, Illinois driver as able to hold his lead for his first win this season. Joey Gower would round out the top five.

 

Jake Halcomb, Monmouth, Il, picked up his first ever Mod Lite feature win Saturday night. Halcomb took the lead from Devon Rouse on lap two of the twelve lap feature for the win. Brady Lucy, Justin Buchholz, Gary Snyder and Rouse followed to round out the top five.

 

After threatening rain throughout the evening the skies let loose with a heavier rainfall forcing officials to stop the action for the IMCA Modifieds in the final feature race of the night. Their feature will be completed this week, May 9 beginning with lap five to start the night’s racing action.
