Woodhull Raceway Car Show Kicks Off 2016 Campaign

106WOODHULL, NY – March 5, 2016- Woodhull Raceway owners and promoters Ted and Brandi White have released their 2016 schedule for public viewing, in what is no doubt going to be a season to remember on the high banks.

The unofficial beginning to the season is just two weeks away when Woodhull Raceway converges on Horseheads, NY’s Arnot Mall for the annual car show presented by Swarthout Recycling.  Space still remains for any Woodhull Raceway competitor wishing to enter their car into this year’s show.  Move in night is slated for Friday March 18th at mall closing time.

The show will commence on Saturday March 19th and run through Sunday March 20thduring normal mall hours.  Saturday night will feature the return of the Pit Stop Competition in center court at 6:30PM, with prizes being given out to the fastest three stops and the best dressed team.  Teams of three for the pit stop competition and interested racers are advised to sign up online on the track website www.woodhullraceway.com or by email woodhullracewaypr@gmail.com.  There is no cost to enter a car for the show or to enter the pit stop competition.

The driver registration form for the 2016 season became available online this week as well.  Drivers are encouraged to fill the registration form out and return to Ted and Brandi White via snail mail or in-person at the Arnot Mall Car Show.

180The Steuben County third-mile clay oval will roar to life for an open practice session on Saturday April 9th starting at 5PM and running for approximately four hours.  As always, the grandstands will be free for this open practice night.

On Saturday April 16th, Woodhull Raceway will fire up the lights and flip the switch on their 52nd consecutive year of dirt track competition with a complete show except for the 370 Modifieds.  This opening show will feature our fantastic support divisions that include the 360 Late Models, Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Front Wheel Drives and the return of the Woodhull Warrior name to Woodhull’s youth mini stock division.

The Crate Sportsman will take center stage on April 23rd as they take to ‘New York’s Toughest Bullring’ for 30 laps paying a cool $1,000-to-win.  Just one week later on April 30th, the 370 Modifieds will return for their season opening event where 17-time track champion Billy Van Pelt will start his quest for three-straight and number 18 in his Grant Hilfiger Contracting No. 78.

The high-flying Patriot Sprint Tour will bring their 360 sprint car series to town on two occasions- Saturday May 14th and Saturday July 23rd.  Speaking of wings, the popular 270cc Micro Sprints have also confirmed their return to Woodhull on Saturday August 13th.

163Modified specials include the 2nd Annual ‘Hustlin’ The High Banks 52′ Short Track Super Series North Region stop paying $5,200-to-win, $1,000 for tenth and $400 to take the green flag for 52 long laps around the bullring.  This race is once again supported by great marketing partners in Maple City Dodge, NAPA Auto Parts, Outman Equipment and Two Rivers Timber.

Other Modified specials during the season include the 35-lap $2,000-to-win George Williams Memorial set for May 21st.  The Jake Davis King of the Ring on July 16th, the Lyle Sherwood Memorial $1,700-to-win Big Block/Small Block challenge on Saturday September 10th and the annual Bullring Challenge Weekend finale on Saturday October 1st paying $3,000-to-win.

Other King of the Ring special events will take place on June 18th for the 360 Late Models sponsored by Troups Creek Auto Parts and July 2nd for the Crate Sportsman sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts.  The Street Stocks will go for $750-to-win in a special 50-lap affair on Saturday July 9th.  This will be a nice tuneup for the annual Street Stock Open 100-lap race with the Fight Night All Star Street Stock Series on Saturday September 24th paying $1,000-to-win.

144The biggest fireworks show in New York will return on it’s traditional date of June 25th for the Jim Williams Memorial with a rain date slated for Saturday August 13th.  The legends of Woodhull Reunion will take place on Saturday August 27th, with season championship night falling on the first weekend of September- Saturday September 3rd.

The raceway will take a week off on July 30thwhile the Lucas Oil Tractor Pull comes in for a 6PM show filled with torque, power and eardrum-blowing pulls.  Once again, the season-ending banquet and awards ceremony will take place at Watson Homestead in Painted Post, NY on Saturday December 10th.
