PM_BPort_04_10_16-17Finally, it looks like Mother Nature is going to cut us race fans a break.  We’ve gone two weeks with sketchy weather forecasts and we’re itching for some down and dirty racing action.

There’s such a huge variety of events happening this weekend as many tracks kick off their 2016 season.  If you’re not sure where to go – and you’re looking for some Modified action – we’ve got the guide to get you to the races this weekend.

This Friday night the Accord Speedway in Accord, NY has their season opener featuring Modifieds, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, JR and Open Slingshots and the North East Wingless Sprint Cars.

I-88 Speedway near Afton, NY also kicks off their season on Friday with Modifieds, Open and Crate Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, Xcel Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4-cylinder trucks.

Then comes the track that in my opinion has the best weekly line up in America, Lernerville Speedway — located near Pittsburgh — has 410 Sprint Cars, Super Late Models, Big Block Modifieds, Sportsman and Stock Cars.

Grandview 4-2-16 1006a (1024x685)Saturday a total of eight different tracks open up here in the northeast.

Mercer Raceway Park in western PA has 410 Sprint Cars, 305 Sprint Cars, 358 Modifieds, Open Stock Cars and Modified Lites.

New Egypt Speedway – rebounding from two straight weeks of rain — will get their season long points series off and running with 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, North East Wingless Sprint Cars, and Rookie Sportsman, if you dress as your favorite Star Wars character you will gain free admission to New Egypt.

The Orange County Fair Speedway will be in action with Big Block Modifieds, 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and 4-Cylinders.

Sharon Speedway in Sharon, OH has their annual Russ King Memorial for the BRP Modified Tour, RUSH Late Models, Penn-Ohio Stock Car Series, Sportsman Modifieds, Econo Modifieds and Mini Stocks.

There’s no resting this Sunday with a variety of action for all Modified fans.

The Bob Hilbert Short Track Super Series Fueled by VP holds the second round of their Velocita Racewear South Series at the Bridgeport Speedway’s South Jersey Shootout.  Highlighted by a Modified feature paying $5,000 to the winner and $500 to start.  Also on the card is the Sportsman, Outlaw Stocks and Xcel Modifieds.

Utica-Rome starts 2016 in style on Sunday with a double-header of Twin-20s for the Modifieds with the Crate Sportsman, Open Sportsman and Pro Stocks rounding out a full card.
