img_9821 (1024x683)The 2016 racing season will be the 13th consecutive championship season of competition for stock cars at Glen Ridge with the first season being 2004 when the highlight division was the Budget Sportsman where Frank Blanchard was crowned the track champion. 2005 was the first full season that the modifieds competed at Glen Ridge with Mike Ketchum the first champion crowned in that division at Glen Ridge.

An interesting note is that Demitraszek Enterprises own Matt Demitraszek was crowned the budget sportsman track champion at Glen Ridge back in 2005!

While Glen Ridge will be celebrating their 13th championship season of competition in 2016, the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway will be celebrating their 65th consecutive championship racing season in 2016!

With the cancellation of the Glen Ridge opener for this Friday, April 15 it creates a very special weekend on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 as both the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park and Fonda Speedways will both be holding their season openers weather permitting. More information on the history of both tracks will be coming out in press releases next week.
