Track Records Shatter At Lincoln As Attrition Key In Port Royal

13047670_856863664439904_6853821380706625290_oCarlisle PA – May 1, 2016 – Tonight central PA had an additional opposition, weather. Both tracks rushed the program along trying to outrun the pending rain. Forecast called for precipitation to enter the area between 10 to 11pm.

On tap at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway was the $6,900 33 lap Weldon Sterner. Lap times in time trials were hovering track record speeds. Greg Hodnett would score the quick time award with a blistering 12.577 lap, which broke the previous record held by Lucas Wolfe. The field the set heats off of time trials.

Meanwhile the 358’s were also in action with heat wins by Cody Fletcher, Steve Storie and Kyle Denmyer.

410 heat wins by Robbie Kendall, Jim Siegel and Greg Hodnett. Then the rains hit the speedway while the 410 B Main was on track only completing 6 laps. After a short rain delay track officials called the show at 9:21pm.

Some drivers were not too thrilled with the speedway.

image4“There’s no reason for a track to start after 7pm, ever! The sun isn’t a excuse for the lack of track prep.” Danny Dietrich talks about the possibly of moving the start time up with impending weather of the horizon.

Brent Marks expressed on his Facebook page. “Dont understand why when we all know it’ll rain that we cant move the start time up. I dont think anyone would mind. Social media works wonders.”

Rain checks will be honored for the upcoming three weeks and also exchanged for the make up date May 10th.

Port Royal was able to squeeze in their feature with the lead changing constantly. Wayne Dadetto goes up in flames while having a 2 second lead. Then it was ‘The Pilot’ Logan Wagner cutting a tire with the lead. After the field regathered Doug Esh slammed hard into the turn 3 fence.

Curt Stroup, Ryan Taylor and Blane Heimbach restarted.

With 4 laps to go Heimbach roared around Stroup and cashed in on the victory.
