RELIVE THE GOOD OLD DAYS

2014-06-02 00-01FONDA / FULTONVILLE, NY- June 24, 2016- If you have been looking for an opportunity to reminisce about the good old days of racing, when coupes and coaches were the main attraction, make plans for this weekend to pay a visit to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park near Fultonville, N.Y. and  the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, N.Y.

Nostalgia will be the theme this weekend on Friday, June 24 on the 1/4 mile at Glen Ridge and on the following evening Saturday, June 25 on the 1/2 mile at Fonda, as these two dirt tracks located in the historic Mohawk Valley area of upstate New York and only sitting 5 miles apart with in Montgomery County, will be the scene of a joint venture between the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDM) and the Northeastern Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Club (NVDMRC). These two fun filled nights of classic stock car competition are bought to you by DEKRA Automotive Lift Safety and the Northeast Stock Car Old Timers Club (NESCOT).

Familiar names from the list of  popular MVVDM stars planning on being in attendance include but are not limited to Doug Mathewson in his # 33-AMC Gremlin and Bruce Gray with his # 32 Special- Ford Falcon.  Buck Gasner will have his #78M Maynard Forrette tribute car and Don Greco will be in the # 643 Ray Dalmata replica. Even the full fender Late Model division is represented as Wayne Gaige will be behind the wheel of the Todd Hoffman 8K.

IMG_0140To add to the excitement the NVDMRC will be bringing many of their star drivers to compete not only for the night’s awards and points, but also for the opportunity to tune up for their return trip to ‘The Track Of Champion’s on Saturday, August 6 for what is shaping up to be N.Y.’s Crown Jewel of Vintage racing for 2016. On that night Fonda will hold their Maynard Forrette Tribute Night, that will include vintage racing, a vintage car show at the Fonda Speedway Museum, and the induction of the latest group of honoree’s to the Hall Of Fame.

NVDMRC invaders expected to tow up for two back to back nights worth of wheel to wheel, Racing like it used to be action at the ‘Fastest 1/4 Mile On Dirt’ and the ‘Track Of Champions’ include Ray See, John Hagar, Jeff Hagar, Chris Adams, Rob Sanford, Bill Liese, and more.

Drawing for position for both events will be handled by Ed Stevens of the NVDMRC and will follow their club’s guidelines.

On Friday G.R.M.P. will present 8 lap heat races and a 15 lap feature on the ‘Fastest 1/4 Mile On Dirt’! and it is Palmer Service Center Night with special prizes for lucky kids club members.

On Saturday Fonda Speedway will present 5 lap heat races and a 12 lap feature on the fast 1/2 mile ‘Track Of Champions’ and it is Dave Lape Tribute Night with the unveiling of the fully restored original Lape 44B.

The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series will be presenting the top finishing ‘Modified’ and ‘’top finishing ‘Sportsman’ cars in the feature a trophy as class winner. The Northeastern Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Club will also be presenting an award for the top finishing sportsman.
