Bachetti Chauks Up His Seventh Victory of The Season

RG72216-22AFTON, NY- August 1, 2016- If Andy Bachetti is going to win the 2016 Greg Page Construction Modified track championship the path will go through victory lane. For the seventh time in 12 races the Sheffield MA driver rim rode his way through a stellar field of Modified drivers to take the feature win on Friday night at I-88 Speedway.

Starting eleventh in the field, Bachetti completed a three wide pass for the lead coming off turn two on the sixth lap and held off a late race challenge from Edmeston’s Paul Jensen to take the win.

Kurt Decker, of Afton, led the early laps of the race despite the persistent efforts of Carbondale PA’s Alex Tonkin until Bachetti made the pass for the lead.

After a caution on lap 7, sixth starting Paul Jensen slipped past Masonville’s Mike Clapperton to take over third. Jensen, of Edmeston, would pass Tonkin by lap 13.

At the finish it was Bachetti taking the win with Jensen second, Oxford’s Rusty Smith third, Brett Tonkin, of Carbondale, fourth and Clapperton fifth.

Delhi’s Dave Rosa grabbed his second Chambers and O’Hara Open Sportsmen feature win of the season. Rosa started seventh and took the lead on lap from Walton’s Aaron Shelton on lap thirteen before going on to take the win. Walton’s Butch Klinger finished second with Shelton third, Charlie Hendrickson Jr., of Bethel, fourth and Saquoit’s Claude Hutchings Jr., fifth.

In the Nu Look Collision Street Stock feature Dustin Harris won a 20 lap, full contact, battle of attrition. Harris, of Oneonta, took the lead when Windsor’s Matt Bowman went pitside on lap 14. Harris held off Downsville’s Dave Cronk to take his third win of the season. Cronk finished second, Bowman came back to cross the line third with Windsor’s father and son team of Steve and Doug Polhamus rounding out the top five.

Monroeton PA’s Eddie Sites led flag to flag to take the atomicwraps.com Empire State Series race for the IMCA Modifieds. Sites started second in the 15 car field and took the lead and the drop of the green.

The race was slowed by just four cautions as Binghamton’s Matt Cole finished second with Brad Sites, of Monroeton, third, Grand Gorge’s Beau Ballard fourth and Keith Lamphere, of Monroeton, fifth.

Susquehanna PA’s Kamdin Maby picked up his second MR Graphix Xcel Modified feature win of the season taking the lead from Fultonville’s A.J. Miller with two laps remaining. At the finish Miller finished second with Gloversville’s Drew Fallis third, Oneonta’s Will Eastman fourth and C.J. Jochum, of Hillcrest, fifth.

Rob Loucks, of Afton, won a mid-race battle for the lead with Sidney’s Brandon Clapperton and went on to take his fourth Butler Auto Sales EST Truck feature win of the season. Unadilla’s Bob Crandall finished second with Ralph Cuozzo, also of Unadilla third, Bainbridge’s Rob Northrup fourth and Clapperton fifth.RG72216-20
