Sicklerville, NJ (May 4, 2015) – The Modified 811 Dig Safe Series resumes on Friday May 15 when the Modified Stock Cars will be back in action on Bridgeport Speedway’s quarter mile track.

The first of the five races in the series was won by Bob Drayton on Friday, April 24. With the top five in points receiving point fund checks at the end of year banquet, Drayton is the current point leader and is leading the chase for the $1,000 championship check. Ron Roberts is in second place with Jimmy Horton in third. Johnny Cornell and Richie Pratt, Jr. round out the top five. All drivers that finish out of the top five but attempt to qualify for each of the five races will be given perfect attendance bonuses. In addition, the champion of the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series is guaranteed to be an automatic starter for the $10,000 to win Romp in the Swamp Call Before You Dig Championship on Saturday, September 26.

The feedback from the racing community after the first event in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series on the quarter mile has been positive. Cornell, the 2014 Sportsman Champion at New Egypt Speedway, was very enthusiastic after the first race. “This is really a good deal,” remarked Cornell shortly after his fourth place finish. Matt Hawkins, who was encouraged by his father Dale to race at the opening event, enjoyed his first event on the quarter mile track even though his motor had a malfunction. “I had a lot of fun tonight and can’t wait for the next race,” said Hawkins.

On Friday, May 15, the gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the first green flag waving at 8:00 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults while pit admission is $30. In addition to the Modifieds, action on Bridgeport Speedway’s inner oval will include wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints, winged 270cc Micro-Sprints and 4-Cylinder Stock Cars. After the May 15 contest, the final three events in the Modified 811 Dig Safe Series will take place on June 12, July 10 and July 31.
