Accord NY.- May 12, 2017 – The Northeast speedways have been fighting the crazy weather patterns since the beginning of the season and it has the promoters scrambling to attempt to get their shows in. Accord Speedway has been in the same boat with only one show being completed thus far in 2017 as they hit the midway point in the month of May. Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer will try once again on Friday night, May 12th with a full card of exciting racing activities scheduled for action on the quick quarter mile clay cushioned race track.

Gary Palmer has worked hard to complete the many changes he has put into place at the speedway and his attention to detail had the speedway in tip-top form for the opening day event at the speedway. Racers at the speedway commented favorably about the track and the great surface laid down for the racing action.

On an evening of speed that will be sponsored by HO Penn and Arkel Motors, the six divisions at Accord will have their second test of the racing season. With Brian Krummel capturing the opening night Modified feature, he will loom as a favorite when racing returns on Friday. Krummel will have to be on his a-game as Rich Ricci Jr has shown he still has plenty left in the tank as the eleven time champion at the speedway raced from scratch position (22nd) to nail down fifth place at the end of the event.

Former two-time track champion in Sportsman competition, Kyle Rohner, picked up a ride for the new season and promptly placed himself back in the WRWD Radio Victory Lane. Second year driver, Corey Cormier, is on the fast track to earn some wins in 2017 as he chased Rohner to the line.

Anthony Recchio came quickly out of the blocks in 2017 and the high school student and rookie racer has already earned wins at Accord and at Hamlin in another division. Former track champion in Slingshots, Bobby Flood was solid as well on opening night.

Thomas Radivoy captured his first ever win at Accord in the Wingless Sprints and the fledgling division has much interest going for it with new drivers appearing and new equipment being readied for racing.

Bob Sleight was the Pure Stock Champion in 2016 and opened up the season defending his title with a win coming his way. Livy Johnson put on a great show as she raced into the runner-up slot during the event.

Racing is on tap every Friday night at Accord Speedway from April through September. Please make note of the new starting times: Pit Gates open at 5:00; Spectator Gates open at 5:30; Hot Laps begin at 7:00 and the racing begins at 7:30 PM.
