PM_EldoraSDS06-9WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – July 12, 2016 – For the first time in a decade the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds will be making their way out west to “The Big E,” also known as Eldora Speedway. The series takes on the historic half-mile track in Rossburg, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20. The Big-Block Modifieds will run a full series points event on Tuesday and an invitational event on Wednesday when it joins the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“After a decade absence we are excited to return to Eldora Speedway for two big days of heart-stopping, ground-pounding action with the Big-Block Modifieds from the Super DIRTcar Series,” said Super DIRTcar Series Director Mike Perrotte.

098The series last competed at Eldora in August of 2006. It was the third trip for the series to the track. That night, Tim Fuller battled Billy Decker for the win. Fuller joined Brett Hearn and Danny Johnson as Eldora’s only Super DIRTcar Series winners. All of the previous big-block modified winners at Eldora still follow the series and will be there to defend their titles.

Eldora Speedway is a half-mile dirt racing facility located in western Ohio. The “Big E” is owned by three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, Tony Stewart.

“Having the big blocks there makes for a well rounded week,” said Tony Stewart. “You’re getting a little bit of everything. We’re bringing probably one of the, if not the, most popular divisions in the northeast to Eldora. Having the Kings Royal and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in a short amount of time along with the Big-Block Modifieds. You probably aren’t going to go anywhere in the country in a week and a half and get that diverse of a line up. I really can’t wait to see them. I think it’s one of the things I’m most excited about.”

On tap for Tuesday, July 19 the Big-Block Modifieds will have a full points show, which will be showcasing a 100-lap feature as well as practice for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. On Wednesday, July 20 the Big-Block Modifieds will have an invitational event, a 25-lap feature, as they will be joining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for their 150-lap feature. The top 20 in the Super DIRTcar Series points will be guaranteed a starting spot for the Wednesday night race. The next four to fill out the field will be the four best finishers outside of the top 20 in points from Tuesday night’s race.

002The Series regulars will be joined by many other northeast teams who are planning to attend the blood-tingling event. The Series currently has 19 fulltime drivers following the tour. Super DIRTcar Series Director Mike Perrotte is expecting to have 40+ cars attending the event. “This is one of the most anticipated races of the season thus far. We will have a lot of drivers from all over coming to Eldora.”

Eldora plays host to some of the largest dirt racing events in the country, including the Dirt Late Model Dream, Kings Royal, 1-800-CAR-CASH Mud Summer Classic and World 100 – all of which attract over 20,000 spectators on an annual basis.

Stewart is looking forward to adding to the history and the allure of the track. “There will be a really talented group that will come down here, so we’re going to have the best of the best big-block modified drivers at Eldora.

“We’ve changed dirt a couple times since they were here last. I think for everybody it’ll be a learning experience. But I think it’ll be fun to see which teams can figure it out first. I’m hoping we get a good turnout with the crowd to see them because they’re awesome cars to watch race. I honestly can’t wait to watch it. It’s something I’ve been looking forward to since we announced it,” said Stewart.
