328Port Royal Pa.- September 9, 2016- Fans used to joke and poke fun at the Arctic Cat All Stars Circuit of Champions when the group rolled into town. How could you not? When Guy Webb was running the series, there was little All Star participation during these visits and the group that did make the trek east was mildly competitive at best.

That isn’t the case anymore. Under Tony Stewart’s leadership, the All Stars are at full strength and formidable once the green flag drops.

Now, no one is laughing.

The All Stars will be 10 to 14 drivers deep when the series invades Port Royal Speedway this Friday and Saturday for the prestigious Tuscarora 50. And this might be their best chance at taking the loot back to Ohio.

“I’m happy,” Stewart said of the progress of the All Stars. “I kind of judge our success off the competitors and the fans and how happy they have been.

“After seeing how Ohio Speed Week went … car counts have been up everywhere. The biggest thing, if you go through the pit area, is our guys are all happy. That tells me we are doing the right thing.”

Continued Stewart, “Everybody likes the format. Everybody likes the schedule and enjoys running the series.”

That wasn’t the case in the past.

Under Webb, there were issues with drivers getting paid point money and a schedule that saw some events get canceled. Car counts were down, and it seemed like the series was always teetering on the edge of extinction.
