JOHNSON CITY, NY…A sure sign of spring is the annual Mike and Michelle Stolarcyk Cars and Trucks Southern Tier Speedworld Car Show.  The 2016 edition will take place from Friday, February 26th through 28th at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City, New York.

Mike and Michelle Stolarcyk Cars and Trucks in Whitney Point is the official sponsor of the long running show, as they have been for many years.  They have a large inventory of quality pre-owned cars and trucks and their service department can take care of all of your repair needs.

Be sure to check out their new location at 2637 NY Rte. 11, just one mile south of the old location. Log onto stolarcykpreowned.com for more information.

Drivers are busy putting the finishing touches on their cars in anticipation of displaying them at the show.  The show always features a wide variety of race cars from throughout the Southern Tier.  You will traditionally see Dirt and Asphalt Modifieds, Sportsman Street Stocks, Four Cylinders, Sprint Cars of all sizes, Microds, Motorcycles, Road Racing Cars, Drag Cars and more.

In addition to race cars and drivers, the area race tracks, as well as local and national sanctioning bodies, will be there with schedules and to answer your questions about the upcoming 2016 racing season.  It’s a great chance to get the early scoop on what’s happening at your favorite track.

Drivers will vie for Best Appearing honors, with a unique way of choosing the winners.  Every driver that enters the show will receive a ballot and can cast their votes for Best Appearing in all divisions.  So although you can bet that everyone will vote for themselves, they are also voting for every other division.  “We started doing this a few years ago and it has worked out really well”, said show coordinator Dan Harpell.  “Everyone puts a lot of time and effort into their cars and what better way to choose the winners than by having it done by their peers”, he added.

In addition to Best Appearing Car Awards, there are several special awards to be handed out as well.  The Little Mike’s Tribute Award is presented in memory of Mike Stolarcyk III and goes to someone affiliated with the IMCA Modified division.  That award is chosen by show sponsor Mike Stolarcyk.

The Shirley Zacharias Dedication Award is presented to someone in the asphalt end of racing that goes beyond the call of duty in racing, often times behind the scenes without a lot of recognition.  The Anna Heath Memorial Award goes to the same type of person on the dirt side of racing in the Southern Tier.  Both of those awards are selected by the previous year’s winner.  Andrew Harpell won the Zacharias Award last year and Brian Cochardo won the Heath Award.  They will have the honor of selecting this year’s winners.

The Bob Whitman Memorial Best of Show Award is selected each year by Bob’s sons Brian and Steven.  Bob was the man that originated cars shows in the Southern Tier with his popular Raceworld that started in the late 1970’s at the same Oakdale Mall.

Village Train and Hobby will return to sponsor activities on the Center Stage.  The popular Saturday Night Live event takes place on the stage and features live interviews with drivers and track promoters involved with the show.  The weekend will culminate with the awards ceremony on the Village Train and Hobby Center Stage on Sunday night.

Drivers wishing to enter the show can download an entry form off the Penn Can Speedway or Five Mile Point Speedway websites.  They are also available at Doug’s Speed Shop, French’s Auto Parts and 07 Racing Collectibles.  The early entry deadline, where you can save $10, is February 17th.  Entries will be accepted until February 23rd.

Make your plans now to attend the Annual Mike and Michelle Stolarcyk Cars and Trucks Southern Tier Speedworld Car Show at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.  The show will take place on Friday, February 26th through 28th.
