Outstanding New York racers Matt Sheppard, Andy Bachetti and Stewart Friesen will be part of the 44th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 20th. Ten time track champion Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Doug Manmiller and other Grandview Speedway talents will be ready to hold off the New York invaders. Invader Matt Sheppard will be in the same Norm Hansell owned No. 357 Norm’s Save Station entry with which he recently earned $10,000 by winning the Coalcracker 72.

Of course there are some racers that could be considered dark horses in the quest for the rich victory including Mike Gular, Jon Kellner Sr., Tim Buckwalter, recent entry Kenny Gilmore, Ray Swinehart, Terry Meitzler, Meme DeSantis and a host of others. The 2013 edition of the big race attracted more than 70 entries.

Adult admission is $35, while youngsters 6 through 12 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission, no track or organization license required, is priced at $45. There is a Saturday, September 27th rain date in place, just in case.

Many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing were on hand for the rained out show but most are scheduled to return and with some schedule changes brought about by the rain there could very well be some additional well-known names showing up to participate as has already happened with the entries that have been announced.

Fans are reminded that using markers of any type to hold spots in the ticket lines will not be permitted. It will be first come first served basis on ticket sales though those who have purchased advance tickets will be allowed to enter the speedway at 3 p.m. again on the first come, first served basis.
