This week fans will have the opportunity to see race cars representing no fewer than 10 different divisions, including more than 35 full-size race cars and nearly 30 micro sprint cars and go karts, up close during regular mall hours.

Several of last year’s championship team cars are in the show, including those driven by TJ Stutts (Selinsgrove Speedway 360 sprint car champion), Greg Hodnett (Central PA Overall & Williams Grove Speedway 410 sprint car champion), Curt Michael (United Racing Club 360 sprint car champion), Zach Newlin (PASS 305 sprint car champion), Craig Ramich (Mid-Atlantic Modified champion), and Andrew Yoder (Econo-Late Model champion).

The 2016 special edition F-150 pace truck sponsored by Selinsgrove Ford is also on display.

In the mall’s center court, speedway representatives will be available during evening hours to field questions, renew season reserved seats, and distribute 2016 schedules.

Saturday’s Season Kick-Off Ceremony will be held in center court starting at 7:30 p.m. Dan Foss of Foss Jewelers in Selinsgrove will present the championship rings to last year’s title winners in the 360 sprint car (TJ Stutts), super late model (Jeff Rine), pro stock (Andrew Shoop), and roadrunner (John Fowler Jr.) divisions. Track officials will also make announcements regarding the upcoming season as well as conduct driver interviews.

Race cars will be pushed out of the mall after closing at 9 p.m. Saturday.

The first race at Selinsgrove Speedway was held on July 20, 1946, and was won by Hall of Fame driver Bill Holland, who went on to win the 1949 Indianapolis 500. Following a brief closure in the early 1960’s, the speedway reopened in 1963. The upcoming 2016 season will mark the 54th consecutive year of motorsports excitement on the superspeedway of dirt track racing!
