Brew%206-17-16017BREWERTON, NY – June 17, 2016 –  A new race format, great racing in all four divisions saw the first heat hit the speedway at 7:30 and at 9:45 the final race of the night was completed at the Brewerton Speedway.

In five years of racing at the Brewerton Speedway in the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds Tim Sears Jr. has racked up a lot of top fives with many second place finishes with victory lane always alluding him.

All that changed Friday in the 35 lap feature. Sears led every lap for his first career speedway win. The victory was anything but easy as Sears had to hold off challenges from Ryan Phelps for the first 25 laps and then over the last 9 laps he had to hold off a fast closing Larry Wight to park his Mullen Industrial Handling/CC Collision/Phoenix Sports Bar/Pit Stop Convenience Stores/LJL Kevlar Racing Engines/No.83x in victory lane.

Behind Tim Sears Jr. and Larry Wight, Ryan Phelps, Tom Sears Jr. and Matt Sheppard would finish second through fifth. Pat Ward, Jimmy Phelps, Chris Hile, Rich Scagliotta and Tim Kerr would complete the top ten.

Brew%206-17-16004One year ago high school student Tyler Trump was competing in the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman at the Fulton Speedway learning how to race in open wheel cars. On June 4 Trump would win his first ever SUNY Canton Sportsman feature at the Fulton Speedway.

Friday night Tyler Trump would grab his first career SUNY Canton Sportsman win at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon.”

Trump would lead the opening 7 laps of the 25 lap feature before losing the lead to Will Shields on a restart after a quick caution period. Trump would fight his way back to lead on lap 11.

Brew%206-17-16009After retaking the lead Trump would hold off Tony Finch II by 0.510 of a second at the checkers. Rich Townsend, Todd Root and Beth Bellinger finished third through fifth.

Jim Bogett won his second feature in a row in the Firehouse Subs Mod Lites. In the 20 lap feature Justin Williams would lead the opening 13 laps before Bogett would take over the top spot. Once out front Bogett would hold off Joe Garafolo who had his best race of the season by 0.920 of a second at the finish. Jeff Sykes, Justin Williams and Mike Mullen finished third through fifth.

Chris Bonoffski wiped out a season of mechanical gremlins as he dominated the green to checker 15 lap JB Logging & Firewood Four Cylinder feature. Chuck Powelczyk, Ray Bechler, Tim Dunn and Mike Sherbeck finished second through fifth.
