Big Block Modified rookie, CJ Jones charged to his second Spirit Auto Center Big Block Modified feature win just six weeks after earning his first career win on the 5/8 mile Bridgeport Speedway. The Ottsville, PA driver led for seventeen laps before Joseph Watson put the No. 1J out in front, using the inside line to move ahead of Jones on a restart. But Jones was not to be denied as he raced back by Watson some three laps later to take the lead and race to the finish line ahead of the field of Modifieds.

TJ Henry picked up his ninth win of the season in the PennCo Tech Outlaw Stock feature event while Kris Lilick overcame repeated caution flags to capture his second win of the 2016 season in the Stewart Stainless Crate/Sportsman main event.

“This is awesome,” was Jones’ reaction to his second win. For a driver to win in his rookie season is not common place but Jones proved that he is a legitimate contender in his new division as he earned his second win of the season.

PM_BPort_070316-18There was plenty of three wide racing in the final laps as Martz, Laubach and Jones raced for second following the lap eighteeen caution when current point leader, Ryan Watt relinquished his top five position to head to the pits to replace a flat tire. One lap later, Wade Hendrickson, Jordan Watson and Laubach raced three wide for the final top five position.

With less than a mile of racing remaining before the checkered flag, Sam Martz raced into second place, passing Joseph Watson for the position.

Jones led Martz, Joseph Watson, Rick Laubach and Wade Hendrickson to the checkered flag at the end of twenty-five laps.

2016 DA’s Auto Body Rookie Champion, Chuck Sayres led the first six laps of the Crate/Sportsman feature before Kris Lilick completed the pass for the top spot as the leaders exited turn two. Lilick pulled away from the field but his lead was erased by three caution flags during the race’s final laps. Lilick raced ahead of Eric Kormann for the win. Sayres finished third while Steve Davis edged Bobby Lilick for fourth at the checkered.

Tom Wills, Sr. led the field to the green flag and had Mike Vanimen’s No. 8 out in front for the first lap of the Outlaw Stock feature event. Scott Dugan raced into second by the end of lap one and then continued to use the outside line to race by Wills, Sr. as they raced out of turn two. Dugan was the race leader through lap three before Henry took over and led the remaining laps to the checkered flag.

Dugan trailed Henry to the finish with Tom Wills, Jr. finishing third. Mike Creamer and Brian Ludwig rounded out the top five at the checkered.

PM_BPort_070316-8The night’s racing events concluded with three Powder Puff events on the quarter mile track. Sandy Klimeczek picked up the win in the Outlaw Stock Division. Kristy Hicks used an outside pass to take the win in the Modifieds over Fay Lancaster, Patty Thornton and Olivia Ingersoll. Renee Crossman picked up the win in the Crate/Sportsman division over Billy Jo Peck, Paige Brown, Mary Anne Ecret and Wendy Sargent.
