Reimert Wins On His Birthday; Takes FMP Slinger Tour Lid-Lifter
Kirkwood, NY –  Louden Reimert, from Oley, PA, opened the Mid-Atlantic Gold Tour campaign with a big win on Sunday, April 12 at Five Mile Point Speedway.
For Reimert, the 2013 National Slingshot Tour runner-up, the victory couldn’t have come at a better time – Sunday was his 14th birthday.unnamed (3)
Steve VanValkenberg ran what Rich Tobias called “the best 18 1/2 laps of his career” in an effort to hold off the hard charging dynamic duo of Reimert and defending National Champion Dylan Hoch. A slower car proved to be VanValkenberg’s undoing, however, as Reimert squeezed between the leader and the lapped car to grab the top spot on the white flag lap, with Hoch zipping past VanValkenberg as well to snare second place.
Reimert held on over the final circuit to score the triumph, with Hoch – who celebrated his 16th birthday a few days before the race – finishing second ahead of the disappointed VanValkenberg. Don Schmidt and three-time National Slingshot Champion Brett Bieber rounded out the top five.
Great racing as always at FMP, with 20 All Star Slingshots signing in for competition. The race, in addition to being a Mid-Atlantic Gold Region event, also awarded points toward the Empire Region’s Tour Championship.
