Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Champion Ryan Preece will make his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Start this weekend driving the Mike Curb owned 98. With only 43 cars entered Preece is guaranteed to make the race and log valuable laps at the Sprint Cup level.

The original entry list that came out earlier on this week had Reed Sorenson listed as the driver as the 98 which was driven to a 13th place finish last weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway by Michael Waltrip.

Preece who made his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway where he finished 32nd after starting 37th had already announced plans to run the season finale at Homestead-Miami in the 98 car. Zach McGowan who was Preece’s Crew Chief at NHMS will be back on top of the pit box for this weekend at Marinsville.

After this weekend’s activities at Martinsville, Preece is entered in both the SK Modified and Tour-Type Modifieds in the 13th Annual North-South Shootout at the Concord Motorsports Park located in Concord, NC the following weekend.
