PENN CAN POSTPONES FRIDAY’S PRACTICE TO TUESDAY NIGHT, APRIL 14TH; SECOND PRACTICE SLATED FOR APRIL 17TH

SUSQUEHANNA, PA…Penn Can Speedway has postponed this Friday’s practice due to the wet conditions. Practice has been rescheduled for next Tuesday, April 14th at 6:00 p.m., with a second practice scheduled for Friday, April 17th. The 2015 “Can Opener” will take place on Friday, April 24th.

The week long rain proved to be too much and has not allowed the track crew to get the facility prepped on time for the practice. “We had hoped to be able to get on the track this week but the heavy rains that came down during the week has made it impossible to get the track ready for Friday”, said Promoter Dan Harpell. “It looks like we will have a stretch of nicer weather coming up in the next few days, which will allow us to get it together for Tuesday, which looks like a great day right now”, he added.

The harsh winter and spring has been a challenge for everyone in the northeast. The ground is so saturated that there hasn’t been enough dry weather to help firm it up. “The parking lots and pit area have tightened up nicely but the track has just been too soft to get on it. You only create a bigger mess by trying to force the issue”, said Harpell. “I am confident that we will be able to get on the track this weekend and have everything ready to go for Tuesday”.

Tuesday’s practice will find the pit gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Practice will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pit admission will be $20. There is no admission fee for spectators in the grandstand area. Practice night will be a great opportunity to purchase your 2015 Pit Memberships and avoid the long lines on opening night. Pit and Grandstand Season Passes will also be available at practice.

Drivers are eager to get out on the track to prepare for the April 24th “Can Opener”. Practice gives them a chance to try some different things and find out what works and what doesn’t work so they can get dialed in for opening night.
