The Pauch Racing Team produced four top-ten finishes over the holiday weekend.

Billy Pauch Jr. opened the weekend at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night.

Due to a strong storm that hit, forcing a delay at the track, the modifieds didn’t run any heat races. They lined the feature up by handicapping.

Pauch Jr. lined up on the inside of the ninth row for the main event.

“We were able to drive our way to the front and finish second,” Jr. said. “It was a good run. We were happy to have a nice solid feature.”

Pauch Jr. currently leads the championship standings by 49 points at New Egypt.

The second race of the weekend was hosted at Bridgeport Speedway for a Poker Series race on Monday.

Pauch Jr. started tenth in the No.51 Big Block Modified and charged his way through to finish third, putting him in the top-12 redraw for the main event.

Pauch Jr. started on the outside pole for the 40-lap feature. “I thought we were going to be in pretty good shape but we ended up with the wrong tire choice,” he said. “We ended up finishing fifth. It was a decent finish.”

Pauch Sr. was at Bridgeport Monday night in the retro No.15 Big Block Modified. Sr. started second in his heat and drove away to win it.

“I thought we were pretty good,” Pauch Sr. said. “We were fast in warm ups then we won our heat. It kind of went down hill from there. We just didn’t have the handle on the chassis for the feature.”

The first makeup feature saw Pauch Sr. start on the pole. Sr. fell back but held on for a 10th-place result.

Pauch Sr. started fifth in the second 40-lap feature but only made a few laps and pulled off.

Sr. mentioned making changes based off of what he’s learned so far and hopes to get the car dialed in for it’s next appearance.

“It’s something different and I haven’t figured it out yet.”

Pauch Jr. closed off the holiday weekend on Tuesday evening at Grandview Speedway for a Thunder on The Hill race with the No.14 Small Block Modified.

Pauch Jr. started sixth in his heat and drove up to qualify third, putting him in the top-12 redraw for the feature.

“We started third in the feature and was running third,” he said. “We got tangled up with a couple of cars, fell back and got ninth, unfortunately. Things didn’t play out the way we wanted to but that’s the way it works.”

Next on tap for Pauch Jr. will be a regular weekend of racing. Jr. will be at Big Diamond on Friday and New Egypt on Saturday. Pauch Sr. will be taking the weekend off.
