Billy Pauch Sr. made his return behind the wheel of the K&A Excavating No.1 Small Block Modified Sunday evening at Big Diamond Speedway for the ‘North vs. South Anthracite Assault.’ Pauch Sr. picked up a solid second-place finish for the team in Coal Country.

After the track had a two week break, Billy Pauch Jr. made the trip back to Action Track USA Wednesday night in the SpeedSTR and 600 Micro Sprint.

Pauch Jr. started fourth in the SpeedSTR heat and was able to pick off two cars to grab second.

“In the feature we started seventh and ended up second,” Pauch Jr. said. “We were coming through just didn’t catch the right restarts.”

Pauch Jr. picked up his sixth top-five finish in the SpeedSTR Wednesday night.

In the 600 Micro Sprint, Pauch Jr. climbed through the heat to finish third from his ninth-place starting spot.

Pauch Jr.’s feature ended abruptly with a left rear flat on lap two ending the night.

The next stop for Pauch Jr. was at his weekly home track, New Egypt Speedway, Saturday night.

Pauch Jr. ran fourth in his heat after starting sixth.

“We had a rough going,” he noted.

Pauch Jr. was up to fifth from 16th and cut a left rear tire forcing him to regroup at the tail of the field.

“We had another issue and came back in after the flat,” he said. “ We ended up losing a right rear shock at the end and salvaged an eleventh place finish.”

Both Pauch Jr. and Sr. closed off the week Sunday evening at Big Diamond Speedway for the ‘Anthracite Assault.’

After a high pill draw, Pauch Jr. started sixth in his heat and finished fourth, missing the transfer by one.

Pauch Jr. rolled out on the outside of the eighth row for the 50-lap main event.

“We were up to seventh at some point,” noted Pauch Jr. “We kind of faded towards the end and got a little too loose.”

Pauch Jr. closed off the night with an 11th-place finish.

With a little luck of the draw, Billy Pauch Sr. started third in his heat race and was able to jump out to an early lead. Pauch Sr.’s heat race win locked him in to the top-10 redraw for the feature.

Following the feature re-draw, Pauch Sr. lined up sixth for the 50-lap main event.

“I thought we were pretty good,” Pauch Sr. explained. “We were pretty good considering we don’t run there all the time.”

Despite dusty conditions, Pauch Sr. was able to cap off the night with a solid second-place finish.

“I passed Craig (Von Dohren) and Duane (Howard) and they run there every week so it was good to be able to pass some of the regulars,” he said. “It’s usually pretty tough to beat the guys that run there every week.”

Pauch Sr. felt satisfied with his second-place results and said he needs to dig just a little bit more to get that win.

Next on tap for the Pauch Racing team – Pauch Sr. will be at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday and Pauch Jr. will be at Action Track USA on Wednesday and Georgetown Speedway on Friday.
