New Egypt Speedway Set for Opening Day Saturday, April 4th

Easter Egg Hunt and Basket Giveaways Highlight Off Track Activities

New Egypt, NJ–                               After a few weeks of postponing events due to the weather, New Egypt Speedway is ready for Opening Day on Saturday, April 4th. The 358 Modifieds, Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks, NEWS Sprints, and HCI/Spike N Go Rookie divisions will make their first starts of the season.

The first 358 Modified race of the season will see the return of “The Sensational One” Jimmy Horton to weekly competition in the Lou Cicconi owned number 43 to compete for the championship against defending champion Ryan Godown and perennial title contender Billy Pauch. The Crate Modified division will start off knowing they will have a new champion in 2015, as 2014 champion Mike Butler has moved up to the 358 Modified division. Look for two time champion Eric Palmer to be tough to beat again this season. The Street Stock division will kick off their season with last year’s champion Bill Liedtka looking to repeat against tough competition. The NEWS Sprint division will make its debut with both Neal Williams and Billy Pauch Jr. set to compete. The HCI/Spike N Go Rookies will have some pedigree with the debut of Billy Osmun racing a car identical to his father Willie Osmun’s Norcia 81 Modified entry.

To help celebrate the Easter holiday weekend, the Speedway will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the picnic area at the start of Intermission. Children 12 and under are invited to participate. Throughout the night the Speedway will be giving away Easter Baskets filled with candy and toys from our drivers who generously donated. To be entered to win the baskets children should put their name in the giveaway bucket located on the front stretch next to the flaggers stand. Entry forms can be found at the main entrance of the Speedway.

Pit gates will open at 2 pm for early technical inspection, front gates will open at 3 pm, practice will start at 4:15 pm, and the first green flag will wave at 5 pm. Adults are $20, seniors 65 and older are $18, teens 12-15 and military and their spouses with ID are $10, and children 11 and under are free.
