Dsc_1507LEHIGHTON, Pa.- October 1, 2016- Due the rainy weekend, all racing activities at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway has been postponed until October 8-9.

This Saturday was to have been the final point race night of the season but Mother Nature apparently had other plans with rain predicted throughout the day which led to management having to utilize their rain date of Saturday, October 8 with some amendments.

The night’s line-up will consist of a 35-lap Modified feature instead of Twin-50s. There will also be the Jennifer Flanagan Kutz 42 for Late Models. The Street Stocks are going 30 laps. 25 laps will be the distance for the Dirt Mods while the Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks will contest in 20-lap mains.

At intermission there will be a Little Tykes Power Wheel Demo Derby sponsored by Brown Daub Kia/Kutz Racing.

Main gates open at 4:00 pm with racing starting at 6:00. Adult general admission is $12. There is a $2 discount for students, seniors 65+ and active Military. Early paid practice starts at 12:30. Pits are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

DSC_rg-6017In all fairness to teams and with several class titles on the line as well as top-10 point positons at stake, the speedway wanted to do all they could to finish up on the race track. If October 8 is washed out then the track will try one last time to run the show which will be on Saturday, October 15. If that fails then the points will end as they stand.

As for the Enduro and Demo Derby that has now been moved to Sunday, October 9 with start time at 2:00 pm

$1000 will be awarded to the winner of the Small Car Enduro provided 50 or more cars are signed-in on race day. However, if 70 cars are present then the first place winnings go to $1500. And, if 80 or more are on hand then the winner’s take goes to $2000. That same payout will also be offered to the winner of the Jr. Enduro race. The complete payoff is listed below.

There is also a Big Car Enduro slated provided enough cars are registered.

The price to enter the October 9 Small Car, Big Car and Jr. Enduros is $50 per car which includes the transponder and vehicle. Pit fee is $20 per person and $10 grandstand admission. There is a $2 discount for students, seniors 65+ and active Military.

Also on Sunday there will be a Big and Small Car Demo Derby on the program. If 20 or more cars are entered in each division the payout will be $800 to win, $400 for second and $200 for third. Heats will pay $100 to the winner.

If there are features only with no heats run the winner’s share will be $600 with $300 and $150 respectively for second and third.

The cost to enter the Demo Derby is $25 per car which includes the driver. The Big Car Demo rules will follow that of the West End Fair while the Small Car Demo rules will be the same as those applied at the recent Carbon County Fair. ALL Demo cars must have the fuel cell and battery mounted and secured behind the driver’s compartment and conform to proper safety regulations.

As noted Sunday’s action begins at 2:00 pm.
