(LEHIGHTON, Pa. 5-13-15) In what has been nothing short of a very competitive season at Mahoning Valley Speedway over the first five weeks with close finishes and a host of different winners, the popular Lehighton paved quarter mile oval will be in action for more of the same this coming Saturday evening, May 16 featuring all six regular track classes of Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks running in a series of heat and feature events.

Also added to the slate will be a Car Cruise that will take place during intermission. The Car Cruise is open to anyone who has a classic, custom or rod type car. The vehicles will be on display prior to the night’s racing and the owner will also receive free admission into the track for the night’s races.

Race teams can take advantage of early paid practice which takes place from 12:30 to 3:00. Fee is $25 per car. Regular warm-ups will then get underway shortly after 4:00 pm. The first heat will hit the track at 6:00 pm.

Grandstands open at 4:00. Adult admission is $12, there is a $2 off discount for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Must have ID. Children 10 years old and under are free.

Coming up in two weeks, May 23, is the annual Gene Bowers Sr., Memorial Street Stock 100 that pays $1200 to win plus lap money. It is also race number two of the American Rental Street Stock Gamblers Series. Anyone wishing to sponsor a lap can do so by contacting either Gene Bowers Jr., or Sharon Bowers. This event has become one of the highlight races of each season since first being held in 2011. Kevin Smith won nearly $2300 in the inaugural race and the winnings have been on par each year since.
