(LEHIGHTON, Pa. 6-18-15) Dirt Mods at Mahoning Valley Speedway are often thought of as one of the most energizing divisions to watch at the paved Lehighton ¼-mile oval. Thanks to an all dirt track set-up, including dirt tires and then letting them cutting them loose in a tight pack, it is a unique style of short track racing like no other.

The class, now in its seventh season, will take the spotlight this Saturday evening, June 20 with a 50 lap, $1200-to-win main event.

Leading the way into the special feature will be current point leader Ricky Yetter. Yetter, who drives the Gary Lee’s Brown Daub KIA/Johnson Motor Lines No. 5, has been at the top of the standings for all but one week this year. In eight races thus far the driver best known as “The Law” has won twice while also knocking out seven top five finishes.

In his shadow is Mike Stofflet who is the only other driver to lead the points this year and is coming off a recent win two weeks ago. He has the momentum going his way right now and could close the gap on Yetter with a winSaturday.

Lorin Arthofer II, who won his first Dirt Mod race on June 6, adding to his track total of 29 career wins across four different divisions, will be looking for another visit to Victory Lane.

One of the steadiest drivers this year has been Dave Gorbatuk. Gorbatuk has been on the verge of earning his career first Mahoning win and has been a top contender for the class title as well. This could be the night!

Ray Deemer is fresh off his second win of the season, Jack Ely has scored two victories and each would certainly like to go for the $1200 verdict. Aleia Geisler and teammate Josh Schaffer have yet to win but clearly been within reach. Talented Scott Adams can surprise everyone and young Billy Lasko has shown that he is more than ready to bust through for his first win.

All-in-all it is a great classes of drivers who will battle over the 50-lap distance for what should be a well-earned win.

Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Pro 4s and Hobby Stocks are also on the card plus the postponed Hobby Stock feature from May 30 will be run.

At intermission Kids Big Wheel Races will take place.

Adult general admission is $18, $2 off for students, seniors 65+ and active military. Must have ID. Children 10 years old and under are free. Main gates open at 4:00 and racing starts at 6:00.

Early paid practice will run from 1:00 to 3:30. Regular practice begins at 4:30.

Additional news can be found on the track’s official site at www.mahoningvalley-speedway.com or on Facebook at Mahoning Valley Speedway and on Twitter at twitter.com/MahoningSpeed. Mahoning Valley Speedway is adjacent to the Mahoning Valley Farmers Market on PA Route 443 just a few miles west of Lehighton.
