Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Continue Support of New Egypt Speedway Rookie Sportsman

New Egypt, NJ – Lyons Construction and Metal Fab Pro Race Shop have once again teamed up to be the presenting sponsor of the New Egypt Speedway Rookie Sportsman division. This will mark the 12th year that Lyons Construction has been involved with the New Egypt Speedway Rookie Sportsman division.

Six drivers have notified the Speedway office of their intentions to compete for the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman title that will be worth $750 to the winner, $500 for second and $250 for the third place points finishers.

“I feel bringing new people into our sport that has been diminishing for a number of years is very important to our sports survival”, said Lyons Construction owner Mike Lyons.

Competitors include, Staff Sergeant Walt McIntyre, a retired Army Veteran who has completed four tours combined between Iraq and Afghanistan, McIntyre is a native of Levittown, PA. Staten Island, NY’s George Kohrmann who is a 21-year veteran with the FDNY plans to compete as well. Joseph Brown, son of former New Egypt Speedway Track Photographer Jim Brown has purchased a former Pat Wall machine and plans to tackle the New Egypt Speedway Rookie Sportsman division. David Burns, who is the nephew of New Egypt’s all time Feature Winner Billy Pauch plans to compete aboard one of Marty Resnick’s machines, Burns has previous experience in Slingshots. Rick Wegner Sr., father of former New Egypt Speedway Modified competitor Rick Wegner was at New Egypt Speedway’s Open Practice and looked to get faster as the day went on. Manahawkin, NJ’s Rob Mancini will also be in action in the sharp yellow-and-black No. 10.

The Chase Begins in all classes including the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman division this Saturday night April 15 at New Egypt Speedway where the 358 Modifieds, Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars, and Hammer Sportsman are also in action along with the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club. Pit Gates will open at 3PM, Grandstands gates swing open at 4PM with Hot Laps at 5PM and Racing at 6PM.

Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for teens 12-15, $10 for military personal and their spouses with ID, and Kids 11 & Under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway license and $40 with no license.

New Egypt Speedway is located on Route 539 in New Egypt, NJ just minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure and the New Jersey Turnpike.
