13TH ANNUAL WELDON STERNER MEMORIAL RESCHEDULED TO JULY 9TH

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA- May 5, 2016- Following Saturday night’s aborted attempt to run the 13th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial, Lincoln Speedway promoters tried to accommodate the race teams schedule when coming up with the original May 10th reschedule date.
But after a couple days of getting feedback from the race teams, the promoters have decided to change the date and re-run the entire show on July 9th.
“The original decision to run the remainder of the show on May 10th was based entirely with the race teams in mind,” said Lincoln Speedway promoter Alan Kreitzer. “We got a lot of feedback from the teams following the announced make-up date and it became clear that the mid-week May 10th date would place undue burden on the teams and their schedules.”
With the teams and upcoming schedule in mind, Lincoln Speedway promoters have decided to reschedule the show in its entirety to Saturday, July 9th. This date originally had all three divisions from the April 30th Sterner Memorial show – the 410 Sprints, 358 Sprints and All American Outlaws – returning to the Pigeon Hills oval. So it was decided to take advantage of the schedule the race teams had already made plans for.
In summary, the original April 30th show will now be considered a complete rain-out and re-run in its entirety on July 9th. All rain checks from Saturday night’s April 30th show will be honored for one of the next three Lincoln Speedway shows, or, the July 9th Sterner Memorial make-up date.
The one-lap track record set by Greg Hodnett over the 29-car field of 12.577-seconds (107.339 MPH) on Saturday night’s rain-out will still stand.
Reminder, this weekend, Saturday, May 7th, it will be APPLE AUTOMOTIVE NIGHT, along with Dover Elementary Night, featuring the 410 Sprints, 358 Sprints and Street Stocks. Racing gets underway at 7:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30 PM.
