012Mooresville, N.C. March. 8, 2016 – Shane Stewart and the Larson Marks Racing team posted two top-five finishes Thursday and Friday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway before earning their first win of the season Sunday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz.

Stewart timed in eighth-quick in Thursday’s qualifying and finished fourth in his heat race. After starting the feature from the 15th position, Stewart gained 11 spots to earn a fourth-place finish and the KSE Hard Charger award for the night.

The following night Stewart qualified 24th, but was able to make up ground in his heat race when he gained three positions to finish third. After taking the green flag for the feature event from the 12th starting position, Stewart advanced seven spots for a fifth-place finish.

In the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series first visit to Arizona Speedway, the Larson Marks Racing No. 2 turned the fifth-fastest lap of the night in qualifying. Stewart then finished second in his heat race to qualify for the dash. He and the Larson Marks Racing team gained two spots in the dash to earn the third-starting position for the night’s feature event.

Stewart advanced to the runner-up spot on lap 8 when the leaders got into lapped traffic early in the 30-lap event. One lap later, he made the pass for the lead in Turns 3 and 4. He went on to lead the remaining 21 laps to earn his and the Larson Marks Racing team’s first win of the 2016 World of Outlaw season.

342“I can’t thank Scotty, Andrew and Heath enough,” Stewart said. “We have been struggling early in the night and putting it together later in the night, but it just feels good for everyone at Larson Marks Racing – (owners) Justin and Kyle – to finally put together a full, solid night.

“You can’t start 12th or 15th and win these races because it’s just so darn competitive. Finally, we were able to get some spots in the dash and put ourselves in contention to win,” Stewart said. “Scotty gave me a great race car. Thanks to (chassis builder) John Cool, Rider Engines -everyone that’s involved-ENEOS, ParkerStore, American Born Moonshine, of course Justin and Kyle.”

The Larson Marks Racing team will be back in action at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on March 11 and 12.
