CONCORD, NC – October 30, 2018 – One of the premier rides in all of Sprint Car Racing has been filled as Kyle Larson Racing has tabbed Lemoore, CA driver Carson Macedo for the 2019 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season. Macedo, 22, will compete for the prestigious Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year award.

“Getting an opportunity to race with the World of Outlaws full-time has been a life-long goal of mine. I believe that the World of Outlaws is the pinnacle of our sport; the best of the best and in order to be the best, you have to race with the best,” Macedo said on the prospects of joining The Greatest Show on Dirt.

Macedo isn’t just joining the World of Outlaws, he’s been hired by one of the most established teams in all of Sprint Car Racing – the Kyle Larson Racing No.2.

“With both Kyle and I growing up in California, I had the opportunity to watch him move up through the ranks. I have admired his career and passion to give back to the sport. To say that I’m excited about driving for Kyle Larson Racing next year would be an understatement. This is a ‘Dream Come True’ opportunity for me and I’m thrilled that Kyle is willing to give a young guy a shot and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together,” Macedo said about driving for racing icon Kyle Larson.

“I am really looking forward to Carson becoming part of our KLR team next season. We have competed against each other since he started racing Sprint Cars in California six years ago, so I have watched him develop as a driver and into an adult,” Larson said about Macedo.

Macedo joins the World of Outlaws after a successful season with the All-Star Circuit of Champions, where he finished second in points on the strength of five wins aboard the Gaerte Racing No.3. Coming with Macedo to the KLR team will be his 2018 Crew Chief, Joe Gaerte.

“I’m excited to continue working with Joe Gaerte, we had a strong 2018 season, as well as to start working with KLR’s Heath [Moyle] and Jakob [Weaver],” Macedo said.

Larson echoed the statement and bringing Gaerte aboard, “Carson had a successful season this year, especially with Joe as his crew chief, and I think they will both be a great fit with us moving forward. I can’t wait to see what we are able to accomplish in 2019.”

When called upon to drive the Jason Johnson Racing No.41 during select shows this season, Macedo filled in with flying colors handling himself as a consummate professional off the track while producing on-track results, including a sixth-place finish at the Knoxville Nationals.

In preparation for the 2019 campaign, Macedo will pilot a second Kyle Larson Racing entry this weekend at the World Finals presented by Can-Am at The Dirt Track at Charlotte with Shane Stewart, already been hired by CJB Motorsports for 2019, who will finish out his tenure at KLR this season.
