Josh Wood will make a return to the Late Model division at Stafford Motor Speedway. His father Don Wood will run a part time schedule in the Late Model division. He will be racing for Bobby Peterson whose brother Jim ran in the Late Model division at Stafford for many years.  ” I am racing for Bobby his older brother. I learned a lot from him especially moving up to Late Models from spectating. How he drives the track and following him in my first practices.” Wood Said
Wood is also looking forward to racing with his dad this season. He loves racing with his father whether it’s racing with him on the track or working on the race car as Josh has learned a lot from his father over the years. He is also looks up to his dad as his idol.
Don has taught Josh over the years and to him it’s a big plus. The Wood’s have had success at the half mile. Don has won 2 championships in the DARE Stocks and has had one win in the Limited Late Models. Josh has one championship and 10 wins in two seasons in the Limited Late Models and has 7 wins when he ran 2 seasons in the DARE Stocks. ” It’s always a plus to have someone who drives in the same division help you learn the track. Most nights going home we talk about the race. What I did wrong, How to change that What I did right.”
For his rookie year last season, it was a big learning curve. Josh was battling the handling for most of the year. They changed from a 4 link to a 3 link several times. They tried different setups to the car. The highlight of the season for Wood came when he got the checkered flag. That win for Wood was a big sigh relief. Once he figured out the late model and how it reacts. He felt it got faster.
Wood enjoys racing with the Late Model Competition at Stafford. ” It’s always fun racing against those guys. I’d rather lose to a tough competition than get an easy win.” Wood Said
All of his sponsors will be returning for the 2015 season. They are R.A.D. Auto Machine, Falls Alignment, Flamingo Motorsports, Hamms Welding, and Wayne’s Truck Service. His goals are to win as many races he can and more importantly have fun.
The 2015 NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will be held on April 24th-26th featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 200 lap feature event.
