Improvements, Schedule Heighten Anticipation For Kutztown’s Action Track USA Season Opener

Kutztown, PA –  Anticipation is reaching an all time high as season three draws near at the JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA on the Kutztown Fairgrounds.
unnamed (2) Co-promoters Rich Tobias and Doug Rose have been working feverishly on improvements that will further entice fans and racers alike to the facility that is already the Wednesday night place to be during the spring and summer months. And it’s a good thing that those improvements are ready to go, as Opening Night 2015 is barely one week away. May 13 is the date for the curtain raising Elton and Goldie Meitzler Memorial, following a Test n’ Tune session on Monday, May 11.
During the off-season, Tobias and Rose widened the entry to turn three on the progressively banked oval. They also added more clay for the racecars’ right-rear tires to munch on as they spin in anger in an attempt to propel their drivers to the front of the pack.
For the fans who consistently pack the grandstands, Tobias and Rose have provided a viewing option…there’s now a fenced-in area in the infield, inside turns one and two of the speedway. And there’s a new viewing area for the crews in the pit area, too, outside turn three at the end of the backstretch.
When the USAC All Pro SpeedSTR’s, Pioneer Pole Building Wingless 600cc Sprints Powered by Engler Injection, and NAPA Auto Parts All Star Slingshots try out that new clay on practice night (May 11) or the Meitzler Memorial on May 13, they’ll be in store for a season full of big races and big money at Action Track USA.
The SpeedSTR’s, led by 2014 point champion Billy Pauch Jr. and his father, last season’s USAC All Pro Tour National Champion Billy Pauch Sr., will race for $2,000 to win in each of the year’s Wednesday Night Rumble Series, except for two events when the stakes will be even higher! TheJune 3rd Flyin’ Farmer 40 will offer a $3,000 payday to the winner, while the season ending Dick Tobias Classic, increased to 75-laps this year, will raise the winner’s bank account by $5,000!
The Pioneer Pole Building Wingless 600cc Sprints Powered by Engler Injection will once again drop jaws and make the fans scream and this year, on three occasions, they’ll race for $1,000 to win (with gambler’s challenge). The King of No Wings Shootout, slated for the second program of the season on May 20, will be the first of those lucrative events and the winner will also get a guaranteed starting spot in the prestigious National Open at Linda’s Speedway on October 17.
The second of the $1,000 to win races for the Wingless 600’s is set for July 8, and there will be $1,200 up for grabs in the Fair Week Nationals for the wingless warriors of the 600cc division on August 12, as the annual Kutztown Fair provides the backdrop. This year’s Fair Week Nationals will be contested over a distance of 60 laps – the longest race of the year…anywhere…for the 600cc Sprint Car drivers.
The Wingless 600cc Sprints will be Hoosier-shod this season; all of the cars must have Hoosier tires bolted on each time they drive onto the speedway as Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic becomes an official marketing partner of Action Track USA.
The NAPA Auto Parts All Star Slingshots will have a bevy of special races again this season, beginning with a Mid-Atlantic Silver Tour event onJune 10. The annual NAPA Dutch Classic, a National Tour race, will take place on July 29 and one week later, the Slingshot Speedweek event will visit Action Track USA.
The endurance of the Slingshot drivers will again be tested in the Kutztown Komet 100, run as a tribute to the late, great Freddy Adam of Kutztown. The century grind is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, as the kick-off of the racing activity during the Kutztown Fair.
One of the highlights of the season is the third edition of the Ronnie Tobias Memorial, set for June 17 this year, when the SpeedSTR’s, Wingless 600’s, and All Star Slingshots compete in Twin 17 lap features. That’s six main events in one night!
The Junior Slingshots, Wingless 270cc Sprints, Karts, Quarter-Midgets, and 4-Cylinder Stock Cars are also slated for competition throughout the 2015 season.
Just about every week will have a special sponsor and theme such as KME First Responder Night, Little League Night, FFA Night, Armed Forces Night, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Night, Salute to Students Night, Beach Night, and more…making each Wednesday an “event” and not just another race.
The Test n’ Tune Night, on Monday May 11, will begin at 6:30.
Wednesday, May 13, will find pit gates opening one hour earlier than normal, at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5:00, with warm-ups scheduled to begin at 6:15. Qualifying gets underway immediately following the hot lap sessions.
For the events listed as “Regular Shows”, an adult general admission ticket is $12, with Senior Citizens getting in for $10. Youth between the ages of 6 and 12 are just $5.00, and it’s an extra $3.00 for anyone who desires to watch from the infield Fan Zone areas.
Pit passes will cost $25 (with USAC License) and Car Registration is $20 per night.
Car counts are expected to reach their highest levels in the three years of the Tobias & Rose regime. There are at least 44 SpeedSTR’s registered (as of April 15), and the Wingless 600 and All Star Slingshot numbers have increased as well.
It’s just around the corner…the long off-season is almost at an end. The wait will surely be worth it, as the improvements, increased car counts, and big races will produce even more of the intense, wheel to wheel, “elbows up” racing that the JeffreyHogueRealtor.com Action Track USA has become famous for…the midweek motorsports adrenaline rush that everyone craves! And it all kicks off with practice on Monday, May 11 and the Goldie & Elton Meitzler Memorial Season Opener on Wednesday, May 13!
