Greg Hodnett Once Again Our Classes Field In Impressive Fashion

image1Port Royal Pa.- May 30, 2016- Port Royal rolled out night two of the Bob Weikert Memorial Sunday night. Packed pit area, fans jammed the grandstands, food vendors busy at work.

Coming off a win the previous night, Greg Hodnett was eyeing back to back victory lane celebrates. Night started of quick with the show moving rapidly due to the impending weather creeping into the area.

Ryan Smith picked up the nights quick time. The track was in prefect condition and would set up an amazing night of side by side passing.

Hodnett, Gravel, Dewease, Cisney dominated their heat races and came out on top.

With the 35 lap feature next on deck, teams began their final preparations.

Green flag waved and Steve Buckwalter started to gap second place Lucas Wolfe with Gravel contending in third.

Cars going from top, bottom and the middle. Drivers battling for position.

Buckwalter opens up a lead by over half a second on lap 11. Lap traffic looping. 12,13,14, Lucas Wolfe has caught Buckwalter in lap traffic. Lap 16 new race leader, Lucas Wolfe.

Dewease and Hodnett continue to battle for the third and fourth spot. David Gravel holding fifth.

Halfway to 35 and Danny Dietrich says it’s go time! Charging up to 5th place. Wolfe continues to lead.

25 laps down and Lucas Wolfe opens up a 3 1/2 second lead on Buckwalter. Dewease slows on the frontstretch with a failure. Yellow with 7 laps remaining Wolfe leading, Buckwalter, Hodnett, Gravel, Dietrich, Blaney, Esh, Marks, Zearfoss.

Hodnett makes a play at second. Five to go and Hodnett sweeps into the top spot and checks out. Dietrich and Wolfe move into podium positions.

Greg Hodnett goes back to back in the Weikert Memorial and cashes in on a lucrative ten grand payday.

With the win Hodnett controls the points standings for the 3 day showcase, by 25 points over Lucas Wolfe. Deitrich, 35 back, Doug Esh is 60 back and Ryan Smith is 65 back.
