‘Blast at the Beach’ Tuesday, August 30; September 30 Date Added; Agenda Set For November Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend

PM_GTown_032516-19GEORGETOWN, DE –August 14, 2016-  The 2016 season has been a whirlwind revival of auto racing at the half-mile clay Georgetown Speedway.

As the traditional season winds down, management has set a “fall” schedule of racing to wrap up the successful campaign that began in the month of March with the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial and has continued with unique, well-attended special events through the spring and summer.

The next, scheduled event at the speedway takes place on Tuesday, August 30 with the third annual ‘Blast at the Beach’ featuring the point finale of the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By VP Velocita South Region: a 35-lap big-block/small-block Modified event offering $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green flag.  Also on the card: Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Delmarva Chargers and Super Trucks. There is a rain date of August 31, Wednesday.

PM_GTown_032516-30NEW to the schedule is a Friday night program on September 30 to coincide with the NASCAR weekend at nearby Dover International Speedway. Highlighting this event will be the big-block/small-block Modifieds racing for $3,000 to win and $250 to start plus Crate 602 Sportsman, Delmarva Chargers, Delaware Super Trucks, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars and Little Lincolns.

The finale Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend is set for November 4-5.

A huge program will take place featuring a plethora of divisions: big-block Modifieds ($4,000 to win), Super Late Models ($4,000 to win), small-block Modifieds ($3,000 to win), Crate 602 Sportsman, Crate Late Models, Delmarva Chargers, Delaware Super Trucks, Southern Delaware Vintage & Little Lincolns.

The two-day schedule is as follows:

Friday – Small-Block Modifieds $3,000 to win complete program, Super Late Model heats, Big-Block Modified heats, Crate 602 Sportsman complete program, Delmarva Chargers & Delaware Super Trucks complete program

Saturday – Big-Block Modified ($4,000 to win) & Super Late Model ($4,000 to win) features, Crate Late Model complete program, Southern Delaware Vintage complete program & Little Lincoln complete program

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
