Point Pleasant, NJ Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT made the 12 hour trip to compete at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium’s Southern Modified tour race after competing Friday night at Stafford. Preece tells us his strategy for the 199 lap modified feature.

“I think the big thing is qualifying up front. If you can qualify at the bullring, and have a car that can stay pretty consistent it’s pretty much up to the driver to keep it up there”, said Preece. “This is the mad house anything can happen.”

Preece left a race Friday night and embarked on the overnight journey down i-95 to Winston-Salem, NC. His schedule being pretty open and support of his car owners allows him to race freely.RPBGS

“I kind of have a set schedule but I don’t play racecar driver, I want to be a racecar driver so I like doing this this is what I love to do”, said Preece. “I’m fortunate to where I have car owners and everybody around me it’s something they love to do and it’s something I get to enjoy with them.”

Preece will be debuting a spec motor at the tour race. His confidence is high looking to the 199 lap tour race ahead.

“We unloaded really good just trying to get laps first time we brought this spec motor to a tour race. As far in my father’s car just trying to get the balance right we unloaded really well”, said Preece. “We kept making little adjustments to make it even better. I’m real happy we got plenty grip and plenty forward driving that’s what you’re going to need tonight.”
