101_4295HAGERSTOWN, MD – Hagerstown Speedway/Dirt Capitol took a step towards getting the season’s schedule underway with the 30th Annual Race-A-Rama held at the Hagerstown Valley Mall this past week.

Those showing off their the off season efforts included: Late Models -Jerry Bard and Marvin Winters; Late Model Sportsman – Cody Kershner, Brian Cornett, James Dawson, Elwood Sord, Keith Walls, Ryan Walls, Alan Sagi, Brayden Anderson, and Justin Weaver; Pure Stocks –Chris Ebersole and Mike Corbin, Four Cylinders – Jason Stoner, Frankie Gordon, Eric Stover, Shaine Sixeas, Ryan Laye; Hobby Stock – Dwayne Snyder and Jason Sarver: E-Mod – Alyssa Rowe; Rookie Car – Hailey Kaiser; Sprint – Donnie Hendershot. Various go-karts, quarter midget and motocross cycles along with the SCCA Formula Ford of Shayne Frebert were also displayed.

On Saturday, Roy Anderson of ARC LLC presented a free program covering chassis set-ups with a driver autograph session and activities for the kids also closing the weeklong show.

The Opening Day Special is set for this Sunday, the 8th and is the only Sunday and afternoon program scheduled for the season. The program begins at 1:00 p.m. (warm-ups at 12:30) and features Late Models competing for $3,000, Late Model Sportsman running for $800 and $350 awaiting the Pure Stock (Home Track Rules) winner. There also will be a Kids Bike Giveaway.

Switching to the weekly Saturday evening programs begins on the 14thwith a five division program featuring Late Models running for $2,500 along with Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Rookie Cars.

The run for the championship kicks in with the first points race on March 21st with a standard four division program.

The 28th concludes March programs with the Hagerstown/Williams Grove Shootout where the Late Models will have competed at Williams Grove the previous evening and finish up the two night Shootout on Saturday. Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Hobby Stocks are also included on the program.

Only March programs begin at 5:00 p.m. with warm-ups beginning a half hour earlier.
