David Hebert rules at Autodrome Drummond

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC – September 26, 2015 – Martin Bélanger, DIRTcar Correspondent – Local star David Hebert ran a solid race on his home turf collecting the win in the 125-lap 358 Modified Series event and amassing a cool $5,000.

‘’My car was real good, we made a good pit stop!’’ mentioned Hebert who will be well-positioned coming in the Super DIRT Week. ‘’The next races will be tough going into Syracuse, several big names will race with us in the series’’.

Chris Raabe and Dany Bilodeau were on the front row of the 30-car grid as Raabe used the outside lane to take the lead over Bilodeau while Dale Planck ran in third.

Patrick Beaumier and Michel Pelletier got together in turn 4 and brought the caution out on lap 5. On the restart, Dany Bilodeau got a great jump and took the lead from Raabe.

While Bilodeau set a high pace in front, David Hebert and Brian McDonald were completing the top 5 with 20 laps in the books.

Planck and Hebert battled hard for third before Hebert used the inside lane to pass Planck with 29 laps completed.

Maxime Plante slowed in the backstretch and caution was out on lap 34. Bilodeau led the way with Raabe and Hebert in a battle for second with Yan Bussiere joining the top five.

The leaders hit heavy traffic with the top four cars bunched together with 50 laps done. Bilodeau slipped a little bit and faded in fourth while David Hebert became the new leader with Bussiere in second and Raabe in third with 65 laps completed.

The race was slowed down on lap 75 for a 10-minute mandatory pit stop.

On the following green, Hebert had a tremendous start with Bussiere and Planck in third. Hebert pulled away from Bussiere as the leaders were back in heavy traffic with 35 laps to go.

Patrice Demers brought out the caution on lap 93 when he stopped in the backstretch. On the restart, Gage Morin moved up to second with Bussiere in third as Hebert set the pace.

Hebert again opened up a healthy lead while an entertaining battle was occurring for second as Morin had company in Planck and Bussiere.

With only 3 laps to go, Planck had issues and went into the infield leaving his third position. Hebert led the final laps to capture his first feature on the tour over Bussiere and Clair.

The series will take some time off before starting a very busy Super DIRT Week that will start at Weedsport Speedway, on Wednesday, October 7 with the Kickoff Party 75, then heading to Brewerton Speedway, the following evening for the Hurricane 100, Rolling Wheels on Friday with a 50-lap race and the busy week will cap off with the Salute the Troops 150 at the New-York State Fairgrounds onSaturday, October 10.
