CARLISLE, PA. – Last minute preparations have the CJB Motorsports duo of David Gravel and Sammy Swindell ready to go for 2016. The extra time spent planning did cause the team to miss scheduled events at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida but should serve the team well as they gear up for the season.
The teams 2016 debut will now occur at the wide half-mile oval known as Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida. The track, among the fastest tracks on the circuit, hosts the annual DIRTcar Nationals. Five nights of sprint car racing in a row have both drivers excited.
“Volusia is a very, very fast track.” said Gravel, driver of the Big Game Treestands, J.R.C. Transportation Inc., C&S Lawn & Landscape #5. “Things happen there very quickly. We want to make sure we come out of the gate strong. It’s really important for myself and the team to get the opportunity to gel together. We’re now looking forward to Volusia to be able to do that.”
Gravel has experienced strong runs at the facility before. Swindell is a former champion of the DIRTcar Nationals, the annual season lid lifter for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“Volusia is where you get a lot of good cars,” said Swindell, driver of the Big Game Treestands, GoMuddy.com #1. “The competition will be tough. We feel like we can come out and do well though. We’ve worked on some new chassis elements and Paul Kistler really went to work on our engine program. I really looking forward to hoping in these cars and getting after it. Winning the gator trophy is pretty cool. My trophy from 2012 sat on the shop floor and scared a number of people and about any dog that came in for awhile. Hopefully we can get another one with the CJB team.”
Racing action begins Wednesday, February 10th with the Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions and continues on into the following night. On Friday night, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series kicks off their 2016 season with a three night extravaganza.
After the dust settles at Volusia, the series and CJB Motorsports will head to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas on Friday, February 26th and Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas on Saturday, February 27th.
